Hi Rolandfan,
it's great to hear you're enjoying your va5.
You've actually inspired me to give my va7 a go. Bought mine secondhand to help out a friend, and must admit I haven't really given it a fair go.
I found the navigation rather bizzare and confusing, so I put it aside for the time being, as I prefer to play around with my kn7.

Do va7 styles actually load in a va5, or are you just hoping it will work?

best wishes
Rikki

If Roland is a GOD then the VA5 is a Prophet Loving the VA5

"Do va7 styles actually load in a va5, or are you just hoping it will work?"

Luc over at the yahoo VA7 club says the ZIP styles of the G1000 and VA7 are in STH format. The VA5 is basically the same as the VA7...and I guess I'm going with my gut feel on whether it will work on my VA5.

Rikki, if its at all possible for u to email me one of the ZIP styles I will see if it works. My email address is :

I own VA76 and PSR9000. I play it simultaniously -- styles from VA-76 and solo voices from PSR9000.

I am very frustrated by Roland sound and Yamaha styles. But life is better when you play Roland styles and Yamaha sounds.

I think to change PSR9000 for Motif ES and external sound system with subwoofer -- it will give to me best solo sound and multi-pad, but I will keep VA-76 with bad sound but style morphing and vivid styles that sounds like live performance.

I was played Genesys, Tyros and KN7000 (exept SD-1 wink -- but it all have no such style flexibility like VA-76 with it style morphing.

Hi,
you might actually get away with a good sounding Sound Module for your Melody Voices, if you don't actually require 2 keyboards.

rikkisbears,
1) No, not sound module -- I like to play 2-manual (2-keyboard) instrements, like classic organs.

2) Yamaha have styles "one touch" voice presets. It very convinient to pick up e.g. "cha-cha-cha" on both arrangers and play vivid style from Roland and cha-cha-cha voices and effects prepared by Yamaha. Usually it perfectly fit. If I will have sound module, I should choose voices and effects by try and errors for every style. It will be very time consuming.

Thus I was not changed my PSR9000 for Motif or Fantom yet.

For me good presets is 50% of arranger overall value.

Hi,
fair enough, I think there's quite a few people who like to play 2 manuals.
