Hi:
SD1 died while playing. Checked fuse which
looked burnt. Replaced with new Fuse which
burns out when turning SD1 on. Does anyone
have any ideas. Tried to contact AJ but his
email address is not available. Is there
anyone in Virginia area who can repair etc.
Thanks: Bruce

Bruce,

I worked as an organ/amp/synth tech for ten years. Generally when the fuse blows right away, it is a rectifier diode in the power supply. This is a 2 dollar Radio Shaft part. It should cost 75 cents but hey you know radio shaft.

I have not done this on the my Sd-1 but if you are at all handy this normally is an easy fix.

As far as I remember SD1 uses rectifier blocks (Greatz bridge).
An easy check to verify it IS one of the bridges :
Disconnect the power-supply DC OUTPUTS (you only need a screwdriver). If the fuse still gets 'hurt' Tom is right.

If the fuse does not burn with the leads disconnected... there seems to be a more serious problem deeper into the electronics.

Hi Kla4:
Was tempted to get out the screwdriver but realize I have no electronic skills, and
ran the risk of making things worse. Best
thing for me to do is make the trip to
Baltimore Music Center and let the Pros
handle it. Will let you know.
