I know this has been discussed before but here goes again: Does anyone know of a midi foot controller (that I could use with the Tyros) that has 4 or 5 pedals? I currently use the Yamaha MFC10 but it is too bulky and cumbersome, and I only use the front row of pedals anyway, as its hard to be accurate with the second row.

Thanks,
Chony

That's a great idea! Just cut off the top row of pedals and the controller! But if you would have thought about this a little more, you would realize it wouldn't work. Because if you cut off the top, how do you plug it in?

I researched this matter. The answer is no. You can use the Midi Solution F9 9 input footswitch controller and plug only 4 - 5 pedals in.

I have an old Peavey controller in the closet somewhere. I think it has 5. Don't know if it will work though. I used it years ago to control a Yamaha SPX90, that I used for vocal harmony before they made harmonizers.

Would the Boss FC-50 work for you maybe?

Joe Doe,

That's the one. But I've checked froogle.com and ebay, and I don't see anyone selling one! Apparantly its out of production... I guess I'll have to keep an eye out for it.

Beaky,

I did a search for "midi controller f9" and didn't come up with anything. Are you sure that's what its called?

Thanks

musiciansfriend.com has them in stock for $180.

Product #421366

GFC-50 Foot Controller

The pedal is sold under both brands (BOSS/Roland) by slightly different part numbers. It's the same pedal ...

Thanks Joe, I did in fact see that, and there are a few places that sell in for $149 inc shipping (eg sweetwater, check froogle.com for many more places), but in every description it says that this pedal is for use with the VGA-7 and VGA-5 modeling amps. Nowhere do they say that it is also compatible with MIDI keyboards.

Are you sure that they're exactly the same product?

Also would you by any chance know if I can program that pedal to do the four fill ins and break fill on the Tyros?

Thanks,
Chony

Yeah, they're the same. Look at the title then the picture. They're identical units except for the labeling. Read the description too.

http://www.rolandus.com/products/details.asp?CatID=1&SubCatID=4&ProdID=GFC-50

Now, as for will it do all you want it to do? I can't answer that, but it is a MIDI footswitch...

hold up...don't buy all that stuff yet.

a friend of mine uses one for live shows...however he's conveniently on tour right now and i've never gotten the model. HOWEVER, i do remember seeing it for sale on the internet for about $400...as i kind of want one of these but still find it odd to have 6 pedals (or however many it had) coming with me on flights.

i'm searching now by memory (this was over a year ago!)...and i found some hardware here that is customizable?!: http://g-force.info/midiboards.htm
however...it's quite a strange site. maybe i'm just too used to looking at sparkled up pricegrabber pages... (continues search at 6:30am....)

...you could nab this if you're ****ing insane: http://shoppingstore.jobbankusa.com/Musical-Instruments/product18688-5.htm ...haha...

damn. well i can't find this...now you have me curious..

however i've posted an image i took from one of my friend's tours where you can see the pedal...so i cropped it out (it's still kind of grainy)...but at least now that i found the image i know i'm not crazy!
http://homepage.interaccess.com/~justmcg/users/bennjordan/pedalboard.jpg

good luck. i'll post back if i happen to find any leads. cheers..!
