Hi Guys,

I recently bought the Roland EXR-3 keyboard.
Not a bad keyboard for the price.Nice sounds and easy to use.
However, I have a problem when moving files from Cakewalk to the keyboard via usb. Some of the files are showing as ( wrong File )I have tried changing them from midi 1 to midi 0 but that doesnt work. Is there somthing stupid I am misssing.
Thanks,

carl

Are you connecting the EXR-3 to PC or Mac?
In case of PC, be sure to make a safe external usb unit disconnection before removing the cable.

I'm using a PC. I use the usb button on the keyboard to diconnect.

It takes some of the songs but others are left out.

Should I save as midi 1, midi 0 or does it make a difference

EXR-3 reads both smf format 0 and 1.
Anyway, are you using more than 18 tracks in your song?
If not, please send me one of the songs that EXR-3 shows as 'wrong file' so that I can check it and (maybe) I can understand what is wrong with it.

I think may have a bigger problem.
When I move my midi files across now they are either not playing of playing funny.

Is it possible for the USB Drive to become corrupted

Can you try to connect the EXR-3 to a PC different from yours?

Some suggestions:

- You may be using more than 16 tracks on your song.

- Make sure the channel assignment is correct, for example, drums should be on midi channel 10, if you have it set to some other channel it will play funny. If the file loads and plays random notes, then your channel assignment or instrument assignment in the keyboard is not done properly.

- Do you have multiple instruments connected to Sonar? If so, before saving midi file, make sure you are selecting the first midi output if you have multiple midi outputs. I have ran into issues when I had multiple output midi interface connected to sonar and I had output two or something selected while saving the file.
