LOL Holy Smokes! . . . Has anyone ever had this happen to them? By golly, 'they' broke into the computer here at work. I'm just sittin here pulling one of them all nighters in order to put some work that I back burnered back up to it's progressive timeline point and this computer behind me with a high speed connection picks up a data line and starts to dial out international. LOL now I know the origin of the calls I had billed to me last month to Puerto Rico. It explains a hell of a lot of other things too. Like I will pull up an old data file and it would say last accessed two days ago. This computer is a file sharing computer anyway so it's really not all that big of a deal, but dialing out? Now that is taking it a bit too far.
Suprised,
Morph

PS. Some jerk from IP: 127.0.0.1 constantly tries to hack me, but I fixed it. I sent him a big bunch of viruses.

tekminus, you so funny... just like a 21st century Barney Fife.

Morphamatik, I'm sure there are other boards on the internet with people who might be able to give you helpful suggestions about your problem. This likely isn't one of them.

Do use a firewall? And make sure you only share certain folders...not your entire computer!

Oh and incase some of you really catch someone trying to break into your computer, here's a useful page (for the lazy): www.samspade.org It does traceroute and much more.

Best way to get back at someone is to have the log from your firewall, take the IP and run a traceroute and email the offenders ISP. Most, well any serious, ISPs have an abuse email addy.

I did have a guy from Switzerland bothering me for days. He tried to give some stupid trojan, again and again. I sent the logs with all of the info to his ISP. About 6 weeks later I got an email from a nice lady telling me he was no longer with their network. FELT REAL GOOD!

If you have a hardware firewall, is that good enough?

That's the best, although Norton is fine too.
