Hi folks
I'm standing in for a friend in a gig where they do a lot of strict tempo dancing.
This is not my usual type of venue.
I was wondering if anyone had a set list made up of waltzes, fox trots, quicksteps etc. that they could share to give me ideas what songs be appropriate.
Thanks a million.
PS. check out my new web site http://www.johndolan.co.uk/
all songs made on G70 (occasional live guitar) cheers everyone.

Hi Scouse
Had a look at your website. Like it!
If anyone is a Liverpool F.C. Fan then you will also like it
cheers

Hey jdx

If you download the Music Finder View by Michael Bedesem:
http://www.svpworld.com/util_mfdview.htm

and then download my Music Finder database here towards the bottom of the page called Scott Langholff's PSR-2000 MFD
http://www.psrtutorial.com/Files/OFmusicfinder.html

you will be able to see my song list in Michael Bedesem's Music Finder View program.

Set the Target Instrument to PSR2000. Next if you want to look according to category, go to Search, click on Keywords, using the codes I will give you next, enter the code into For This Text, click on Find And Check All, click on Close, click on Play List. When you want to see another category, go to Checkbox Control and click on Uncheck. You are then ready to view another category.

You will find a pretty good number of standard type tunes like you are talking about.

The codes I used were: L=Latin, W=Waltz, F=Foxtrot(Quickstep), O=Old Time(Polka's), D=Dixieland(Foxtrot,Quickstep), S=pre-1960's Standards. Also listed are M=post 1950's "Modern", P=Pop, R=Rock and some others that you probably won't need.

If you happen to have a Yamaha PSR1000/1100/2000/2100/1500/3000/Tyros/Clavinova, you can load it into your instrument for all of the set ups.

Since the tempos I use varies according to whether I'm playing a concert, sing-a-long, listening music, etc, I would suggest adusting according to your needs by feel or by going to your favoite search engine and type in the words Ballroom Tempo. You should get some sites that list standard dance tempos for England, as I suspect some may be different from what is used in the US.

I am including some links to Standard Ballroom dance tempos that I found on my search:
http://www.dancemetonight.com/dc_tempos1.htm
http://www.bobjanuary.com/ballroom.htm

Hope this helps.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Best
