Fran:

Thanks for puting up the URL. I checked it out but couldn't find any mention of the length of the gooseneck. Was wondering if it would be long enough to get the job done, guesing overall it would have to be about 22". Anyone have one of this brand?

Do these lights drain power?

I have one, they do not drain sufficient power to result in power loss at the keyboard, or from your laptop. They come in various configurations, however, none of the gooseneck models that I know of are longer than about 12 inches. There are some, however, that are clip-on and have about 18 inches of wire between the USB plug and the clip-on light.

As for lighting the entire top of the keyboard, probably not sufficient unless it's a really dark situation. Much better off going to Lowes and purchasing a 20-inch LED strip light for about $25, or the same size incandescent strip light for $14. Lots of soft, even light that can be directed where you need it. Some of the strip lights come with an adhesive mounting strip, while others have tiny screwes that are used with mounting caps.

Cheers,

Gary

I picked up a USB light for a $1.00 at the local Dollar store. I've seen them cheap at places like "Big Lots" etc.

I've never used it, or even tried it. I figured for a buck I'd pick one up, and add it to all the other stuff that I've picked up, and may need some day.

Thanks, but none of these are what I'm asking about. My two keyboards have smaller USB jacks. If you have either a Roland RD-300SX or a Korg PA1XPRO you know what I mean. I was hoping someone would make a lamp that would work with those smaller USB jacks. I wonder if the keyboard could power it anyway. Hmmmm. Would be a nice idea though.
