Does anybody here uses SK880, SK760, WK8,WK6 with Steinberg Cubase?

What I am looking for is instrument definition file for one of these instruments to be used with cubase. It is also called patchname script.

Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated.

Hey sk880,

Nope, I use Calkwalk9.

Ya know, this question is ringing a bell with me. I thought I've read about this somewhere before...The 'generalmusic.ins' file that Calkwalk uses for the most part, is plain ol' text. If the Cubase files are text (or close to it), couldn't you cut&paste the info out of the 'gm.ins' file and into the Cubase?

I've got a CD here with Cubase Light on it and I'm tempted to load it on a different computer just to check out how Cubase does different instruments definitions.

I'll wait to hear from you first.

mike

This is exactly what I am thinking to do. Basically, I downloaded these files and opened them using notepad. These will help me to do copy and past. At least, they will save me the typing. I appreciate the help very much.

By the way, It will be very nice if a file like this is generated for genesys.

If you want one, I'll generate one for the genesys.

I use Cubase although I am lazy with the genesys, I have done everything onboard the instrument, and never hooked it up to the computer. If you require the genesys files, I'll generate them, or find out if someone already has them done.

I do not, but Chris said that he is working on the genesys and they sould be close, with a little editing you could make that work, I'll do some digging for you to see if I can dig something up.

To have an ultimate control and flexibility with Cubase, you need an instrument definition file for Wk8. This file is written in a special format specific to cubase that lists all the sounds and all the precussions of drum kits of WK8. Now, you do not need this file to do recording and others, but this file will you give you ulimate control and flexibility.
