tony, thanks for your comments. It provides some comfort. This is my first encounter with the health care system. In fact, I wasn't even born in a hospital.

And you are right....there is alot of therapy...seems like 3 months of it.

But I guess it is worth it if only for less pain....oh well.

Frank ... I have a relative who needed hip replacement for MANY years ... he was afraid to go through it ... well, he finally did about a year ago, and now curses the fact that he waited so long ... he stands straight when he walks and he walks without pain ...
I had a full knee replacement 3 years ago and I am soooo happy I did ... as for the therapy, SHORT TERM PAIN = LONG TERM GAIN !!!
Our prayers are with you ...
t.

Hey Frank , I wish you a quick recovery...
I guess you want to get ready for next years NBA Allstar events...since a 5'9" guard won the dunk contest...you want to give it a shot!! Right?

Hi Frank,
good luck with your surgery.
A friend of mine had her hip replaced over 20 years ago at the grand old age of 32.
Took a bit of time to get back to normal, but still going well.
Things have progressed a great deal on the medical front since then.
All the best.
best wishes
Rikki

Good luck on your surgery.
I know quite a few people who have had it,
and all of them are glad they had it done.

Hi, Frank! You'll be FINE! A good friend and supplier of mine had the surgery around Thanksgiving last year and is in his homeland now climbing the Alps!

John Michael Montgomery, the country singer, is from this area. He had hip replacement about a month ago, and is out and about in the evenings, doing fine.

We're all thinking about you!

Russ

Hip Replacement Surgery: Sorry for sounding dumb, but what leads up to requiring this, and what's exactly involved in a hip/knee replacement. It's just hard for me to imagine replacing an 'entire(?)' hip bone/knee:

Frank, wishing you a speedy recovery from your hip (replacement?) surgery. - Scott

Frank,
I too never had to be in a hospital for anything until recent back surgery in November. I'm now as good as new and thank God for modern medical procedures to make us well. My prayers and thoughts are with you.
