HI,

I was in the market looking for a soundcard for my recoeding needs. Since I will be using 2 Keyboards PSR2100 & Korg PA50 and Im on a budget constraint, I was looking at the MAudio audiophile 24/96. Also there were some interesting Creative soundcards. Anyone have anyexperience with these cards for Audio and Midi recording, please advise.

EMu new cards-0404 for example is $ 99 comes with Cubase LE AND Sonar LE plus other software like proteus LE(softsynth) for free.they have digi ins/outs,midi/and analog ins/outs(2).has hardware EFX(can use as plug in)so it won't drain your CPU that much.
112-116 db S/N ratio -that's hard to beat


if you can spend more, I would go for 1820 M(protool grade converters with 120db ratio),has 2XLRs with phantom pwr,6 TRS ins for $500.
or cheaper same converters-but only 2 ins(1212m)for $ 200.


it's wise to get more inputs(for simutaneous record-you need at least 6 or more mics for decent drum recording-stereo ins/pre mix with the small mixer will not do the job-you 'll have more control in the mix).

on laptop side-1616m is also hard to beat.since it's PCMCIA,
extreme low latency like 2ms(you don't get that with firewire(not to mention slow USB 2.0).so Presonus Firepod or Focusrite Saffire can't compete with EMU(converters and bundled software are too good for the price).the downside - some laptops are not compatible-check Emu's site for tested spec/hardware for laptops.
