I've been using a mixer (along with an external effects processor) with my PA80 and the low level of PA80's output was not a problem with the mixer; I just engaged -10dBV to +4dBu switch and it was fine. I recently got a YAMAHA YST-MS50 small powered multi-media speaker system which does not have such a thing (duh! :-)) hoping to use a simpler setup: PA80, on-board Vocal/Guitar processor, and YST-MS50 where a lot of power is not needed. Now the output level of PA80 is too low for the YST-MS50. (I guess PA80 sends out at -10dBV and the YST-MS50 operates at +4dBu)

Is there any small gadget other than a mixer that I can buy to boost the PA80's output level?

Thanks
Shiral

Before you buy anything, try the headphone output on the PA80. It should drive the Yammies much better.

Yeah, but then the speakers shut off, and that's no good.

Thanks Don and UD! I just checked Don's suggestion and yes it works. As UD mentioned, I too would still like to have the speakers working. I would probaly use the headphones out if I could not find a better solution at a reasonable cost.

I found these two pieces at Rolls's site.

1. http://www.rolls.com/new/mb15.html
This is almost what I need, but has balanced outs. So, I need additional adapters to go unbalanced.

2. http://www.rolls.com/new/mx22.html
The line level input of this has 20 dB. I think what I need is roughly 12dB.

Downside is, they are both sort of expensive (around $50-$60) given how cheap Behringer mixers are.

I appreciate comments on these two products and any other suggestions anyone may have.

Thanks again Don and UD.

in regards to speaker cut out using headphone socket ,there was a solution to this ,i think it was bob gelmans suggestion, maybe this thread will arise again this is what i remember so check for yourselves,in the headphone socket there is a switch which makes the connection for the headphones,ie external speaker, the switch also cuts off the built in speakers ,if you make these connections internally ,bring the wires out of the headphone socket, one set to an internal jack the other to a switch ,then you will be able to play headphones only or you can play both inbuilt speakers AND external speakers, bear in mind you will invalidate your guarrantee ,but if you have put a hard drive then its invalid anyway, mike

Thanks nardoni2002! I see your point, but not quite sure if I want to do it though. Nevertheless, I appreciate your suggestion.
