Friends,

I'm so glad the elections are over. A friend of mine is running for state senate. According to his opponants ads he wants his kids to breathe polluted air and drink dirty water. He also is opposed to jobs and education.

His opponant however IS in favor of jobs and children and clean air and water and on and on and on. What a revelation!

What a crock this whole election has been. I am so sick of all this BS.

What is the name and who did this song? It goes "smoking cigeretts and watching Captain Kangeroo now don't tell me I've nothing to do".

Thanks for allowing me to express my frustration with this whole electoral process.

Tom

New Christy Minstrels around 1966, called "flowers on the wall"
I knew the song and racked my brain and all of a sudden I did a google search of the New Christy Minstrels", went to discography page of their home web site and found it on an album called New Kick.

Title: Flowers On The Wall

Well, now, i been hearin' you're concerned about my happiness
But all a' that thought you're a-givin' me is conscience, i guess
If i was walkin' in your shoes i wouldn't worry none
So you and your friends don't worry 'bout me, i'm havin' lots of fun

[chorus]
Countin' flowers on the wall
That don't bother me at all
Playin' solitaire 'til dawn with a deck of fifty-one
Smokin' cigarettes and watchin' captain kangaroo
Now don't tell me i've a-nothin' to do

Last night i dressed in tails pretendin' i was on the town
As long as i can dream it's hard to slow this cowboy down
So please don't give a thought to me i'm really doin' fine
And you can always find me here and havin' quite a time

[chorus]

Well, it's good to see you, i must go, i know i look a fright
Well, any ol' way my eyes are not accustomed to this light
And my boots are not accustomed to this kind a' street
So i must go back to my room and make my day complete

[chorus]

Tom,
I also did a google search for the chords and I'm sitting here in my music store driving everyone crazy playing the guitar and singing a song I haven't thought of in probably 35 years. It's really a fun song to sing!

George I'm with you on that one, the Statler Bros sang "Flowers on the Wall" as I remember it was on the top 40 charts for a couple of months.

And don't forget Bruce Willis singing it in the car during "Pulp Fiction" !
It was also remade by a newer country artist, whose name escapes me at the moment.
Don Mason oughtta know .......

Eric Heatherly did a really great, up-to-date version a couple years ago.
Stadlers had a huge hit.
