I need at least a 500 mhz laptop. My 500 mhz Celeron desktop plays a song in BIAB in 6 or 7 seconds.

My 166 mhz laptop takes 7 sec just to get the song list screen up and it takes 21 to 25 seconds before a song will start play.
Email me please if you have one for sale.
Thanks

I'm headed to Circuit City first thing in the morning. Maybe I'll camp out tonight. I'm taking a bomb with me in case they tell me they don't have them. They are advertising in a flier today:

Hp Celeron M processor 320
1.3 ghz
DVD-CD-RW combo
256 MB
40GB
$899 with a $100 instant rebate and a $300 mail-in rebate.
On ebay the want more than that for PII's and P111's with 500MHZ and scratches on the screen with no operating system. It pays to read the paper a couple of times a week even if most of it is depressing. Ha! Ha!

Cost $499

Sounds like a great deal Boo. DNJ's laptop just bit the dust, so he may be interested as well at that price. He's using his home based laptop now.

Good luck, Brick. At least I will NOT compete with you.

The laptop is very good at that price.

Boo, are you certain it is a laptop? I've never seen a new one that low.

Donny,

The Dell Insprion 1150 is my back-up system, got it directly from Dell six months ago for $699. Same one they're now advertising for $899. You have to eliminate some of the frills to get the same price I did, however, the deal that Boo is looking seems better.

Best Buy had a Toshiba $899 with an instant rebate of $400. My daughter is lost in action as I type seeking this elusive beast. She took the flyer with her, but as I remember it was a Celeron with 40 gig hd, 256 RAM and CD-R/DVD drive. a 6-11 am 'special.' We'll see when and IF she gets out of there.

Well, she made it back home - with a different computer. The 'specials' were next to impossible to get. People had been lining up since 12:30 am. Some families had coupons for 4-5 specials and were further back in line. How do they do that?

I didn't get out of bed this morning. I went to Complaints.com and got discussed.

Compaq 190 complaints
HP 302 complaints
Dell 522 (These guys are supposed to be the best to deal with) Ha! Ha!
Circuit City 170
Office Max 63
Office Depot 69
Best Buy 645

I read quite a few that were about not getting the rebate. Dell in particular sent the wrong computer twice, other times they didn't cover the warranty.

This is scary stuff. Can you imagine spending $900 and not getting your $300 rebate? Personally I don't have a clue as to what I might do.

I talked to a friend that worked at Circuit City he said there were times when 100 people were waiting at the door at 6:00AM. He said he saw two women who almost had a fist fight over a walkman type CD player. Ha! Ha!

Boy this world is scary. A pissed off customer whose about to loose his family and home and tired of fighting with his attorney could take a clue from the sucide bombers and walk into Circuit City with a bomb strapped to them. I don't think I'm going to any of these stores again. Ha! Ha!

Well back to first base for a laptop.

I never had any direct experience with trouble concerning Celeron processors, but I have seen lots of music software that specifies Pentium. Food for thought.

Donny I want a laptop that will play BIAB as fast as my desktop does. From click to play 6 seconds. My laptop takes 22 seconds.

BIAB does the best sounding rhythms for all the jazz tunes I do with my sax on uptempo and ballads using software.

Almost as good as some real good musicians I've work with and even better than some others! Ha! Ha!

Yes, I have done business with overstock.com before and they were terrific. I even had one experience where a package never made it here (can't recall if it was ups or fedex) although the tracking showed it is as being delivered. I called Customer Support and let them know I never got the package and they refunded my credit card right there on the spot, no hastles. The CSR's response was that Overstock would duke it out with ups or fedex and would inconvenience their customers. Anything else I have ordered from them has been exactly as described, with very prompt shipping. At least this has been my experience with them.
