Best Buy had a Toshiba $899 with an instant rebate of $400. My daughter is lost in action as I type seeking this elusive beast. She took the flyer with her, but as I remember it was a Celeron with 40 gig hd, 256 RAM and CD-R/DVD drive. a 6-11 am 'special.' We'll see when and IF she gets out of there.

Well, she made it back home - with a different computer. The 'specials' were next to impossible to get. People had been lining up since 12:30 am. Some families had coupons for 4-5 specials and were further back in line. How do they do that?

I didn't get out of bed this morning. I went to Complaints.com and got discussed.

Compaq 190 complaints
HP 302 complaints
Dell 522 (These guys are supposed to be the best to deal with) Ha! Ha!
Circuit City 170
Office Max 63
Office Depot 69
Best Buy 645

I read quite a few that were about not getting the rebate. Dell in particular sent the wrong computer twice, other times they didn't cover the warranty.

This is scary stuff. Can you imagine spending $900 and not getting your $300 rebate? Personally I don't have a clue as to what I might do.

I talked to a friend that worked at Circuit City he said there were times when 100 people were waiting at the door at 6:00AM. He said he saw two women who almost had a fist fight over a walkman type CD player. Ha! Ha!

Boy this world is scary. A pissed off customer whose about to loose his family and home and tired of fighting with his attorney could take a clue from the sucide bombers and walk into Circuit City with a bomb strapped to them. I don't think I'm going to any of these stores again. Ha! Ha!

Well back to first base for a laptop.

I never had any direct experience with trouble concerning Celeron processors, but I have seen lots of music software that specifies Pentium. Food for thought.

Donny I want a laptop that will play BIAB as fast as my desktop does. From click to play 6 seconds. My laptop takes 22 seconds.

BIAB does the best sounding rhythms for all the jazz tunes I do with my sax on uptempo and ballads using software.

Almost as good as some real good musicians I've work with and even better than some others! Ha! Ha!

Looks to me like overstock.com has some great prices on laptops! Anyone have experience with overstock?
