Hi I don’t know if this was covered in a previous post but I was just curious to hear how do forum members recall vital information for a live performance.
Information like what styles go with what songs, the tempo of a style for a song, and even the sounds to use. I guess most of these settings can be preset on the arranger keyboard. But what about key signature and words to a song if you are singing. I know some people write some of that information or have it on a laptop and others memorize the information.
Is any way better? Especially if you have a song list that is over 100 songs.

Thanks

All of the above!
I have lyrics with chord changes and tempo settings on laptop. I have songs in the Music Finder on the PSR2100. I have setups in Registration memory, and countless songs in "my" memory.
I have retired all the fakebooks and paper.

You need to memorize lyrics and music to a minimum when performing live...head down, looking at words, charts, is a big distraction to the audience and bad stage presence, besides a big LAG delay in keepng the flow of your peformance moving along to just a "few seconds" inbetween songs to keep their interest, especially when they are dancing. Use the laptop for smf, mp3's, & lyrics when needed. A good excercise is to Blindfold your self and play and sing songs to train youself to look at the audience & not at your fingers...you should be laying effortlessly. This all comes with years & years of experience.

Ziggy....MS Word does a grat job for lyrics...
use 12-14-16 pt Ariel/Times New Roman bold fonts..

I use MS Word. You can keep all the lyrics on one page by adjusting the type size. I generally use Arial Bold from 12 to 16 point.
If the song is reeeeally long you can use 10 point and wear glasses.
I got "A Boy Named Sue" on one page using 12 point.

Its also easy to just hit the "PAGE DOWN" key on long lyrics songs.
