Hello,
I need some help about Storing stylepresets in Userfamilie.
I loaded all te userstyles in the user-area of the XP. Now I want to make some
adjustments in the styles and save them as Stylepresets.
So far so good for User-familie 1 to 4.
But my XP won't store Stylepresets in Userfamilie 5 to 8.
I can't select User 5,6,7 or 8 in the 'Store-Page'.
Also in play-mode the display shows strange names for Userstyle-familie 5 to 8.
Userfamilie 5 shows name 'Solo'.
Userfamilie 6 shows name 'Full-WK'.
Userfamilie 7 shows name 'Upper/Lower'.
Userfamilie 8 shows name 'Multi-WH'.
Any helps?
Thanks very much, Regards, Rudi.

Hi Rudi,

I think I know what is happening here. Apparently some of the styles you have loaded originated on the WK series instruments.

What I would like you to try is once you have selected one of these Styles and chosen one of its Style Presets, press any one of the Keyboard Mode buttons, I.e. FULL, BASS SPLIT, etc. and then re-select the ACCOMP SPLIT Mode button (or whatever accompaniment mode you are using). This should make things work normally.

EXPLAINATION: The WK series only allowed for two sounds to be layered on the right hand of the keyboard. The Genesys allows for up to six sounds to be layered. This fact can make the scenario you described appear.

NOTE: This is not a problem, but is actually supposed to happen. People that traded up to a Genesys series instrument from a WK series instrument can load their old styles into the Genesys and have the same keyboard mode displayed that they are accustomed to seeing from their WK series. If they want to convert the keyboard mode to that of the Genesys, all that is necessary is to do the little trick I explained above.

Please let me know if this takes care of the situation.

Best Regards,

Dave

Hello Dave,
I tried these trick, but no results.
Same probs appears.
I can't save any of the stylepresets in familie User 5 to 8.
But if i load the same Userstyle in any of the Userbanks 1 to 4 everything works well.
Strange, strange....
Regards, Rudi.

Oké Dave, thanks!
I also loaded my first OS (09/11/2004) for trying-out, same probs.
Current OS (16/06/2005) no solution.
For a test, i changed some userstyles from banks 1, 2, 3 and 4 and they ware saving well. After that i copied this changed userstyles into banks 5, 6, 7 and 8 where they appears with my saved adjustments.
Regards, Rudi.

That was going to be my next suggestion until we find out what is really going on.

Best Regards,

Dave

Oh Boy what fun.

I will be making another post about my whole Genesys XP expereince shortly however this was about loading user styles.

I received my CD finally from General Music in Chicago and proceeded to load the user styles from it into my XP which nearly became a vey expensive boat anchor and I don't even own a boat. LOL

Well I started loading the files and after 4-5 folders loaded this rig got flakey. Previous styles disappapered just like Rudi's did.

My solution after 200 tries at everything (exageration of course and I'm to stupid to quit) was the following.

Load the style folder files in reverse order.

1 Load UserStyle World first - Which is the Number 8 style in the XP

2. Load Latin folder next.

3. Load Country folder next.

4. Load Zazz folder next.

5. Load Dance folder next.

6. Load Traditional folder next.

7. Load Rock folder next.

8. Load POP folder next.

That is the only way I could get all the User files to load and work.

Now when you load you own personal files just pick which folder you want to use and overwrite the style or styles in there.

Hope this helps

Jerry
