I heard a guy playing sax with midis using a Dawn outfit which is back in production. It really sounded pretty good. He was using it outside and the sound traveled well.

Less wires – and less parts – and less weights – and less trips. Al these other units offer too many pieces –for me. The price is $849.99, I bought my two JBL 10’s – powered at $800.00 two years ago.

I have always wanted to have one keyboard, one mic with stand, music and one amp. Possibly a chair. With the Kn7000 it was not possible. With my new addition, the Tyros 2, arriving today, I’ll see if it can be done.

Home use: Logitech Z2300 with Bose 161 speakers.

Job (Older music played strongly(Volume) a pair of JBL 10’s self-powered.
Somewhere between 175 to 200 watts each and I personally like their sound.

Because of the stereo factor of Yamaha it will have to be two speakers. If more volume or bottom is needed I would have to add a sub. I doubt I would want more of that I’m beginning to lose it in my right ear. Aaaaaah. For a piano tuner that’s not happy news.

The Tyros 2 has enough control so I would not use a mixer or vocal unit.
1-Keyboard and stand
2-Music, in this case a laptop
3-Mic and stand – may go head set
4-Two JBL 10’s light enough to carry one in each hand
5-Possible chair/seat

IMHO, John C.

Wow, I can’t believe it, in the middle of me writing this the UPS man rang my doorbell -- it’s here---- aaaaaaaaah – weeeeee, I think I’m excited. This is after being with Technics for 13 years.

My impression of the Peavey's sound quality is good. Nevertheless, the JBL Eon10 G2 get's excellent sound.

I think the Peavey would be the better choice if you were playing in a duo or three piece band, and you needed the outboard mixer.

For an arranger keyboard player, we only need two inputs. We don't need FX. We don't even need eq. We can do that on our keyboards.

I would get two JBL's with gig bags. I would get power cables with right angle plugs and guitar cables with right angle plugs, and I would keep those babies plugged in all the time. When you get to your smaller shows, you put the speaker on a chair, unzip (You don't even have to take the speaker out of the bag), and you pull out your cables and plug them in.

HI Donny

I agree with you. No power and who needs a 200 watt RMS sub weighing in at 44 pounds?

I would consider possible the Dawn satellites with a Yamaha or Logitech sub. That would take care of the power and less stuff to carry and less weight as far as that goes.

John, do you have the grey JBL's or are they black? The price you mention makes me think they may be the grey older version, or you found a good price on the newer G2 version.

The only thing about using the z2300 at home and the JBL's when playing out is if you tweak the sounds any on the 2.1 system, you may find out on the gig that it doesn't sound the same.

John, I'm with you 100% on using 2 JBL 10 G2's. It's easier to set up than a 2.1 or 5.1 and sounds better. It covers more of the frequencies you want to hear as compared to midget satellites by far.

JOhn, Congrats, enjoy that sucker!!

Hi Larry

Actually I leave my cords plugged into the back of my JBL's and there is really no need for the angled plugs as it is kind of recessed around the jacks.

The other thing I did to make them easier to carry was to take the front speaker plate off and took some nylon belting from a marine supply store, and burned holes through the belting to make room for screws to go through. The end of the belts were singed also. These melted ends keeps them from unravelling.

I then positioned the nylon belt handles over were the screws go between the speaker plate and cabinet and I now have perfectly balanced JBL Eons that I can easily carry at the same time. Without that they are a little off balance trying to carry with the recessed handle the way they come.

If you want to use covers for the JBL Eons, a parachute bag fits perfectly and run about $14.99 apiece, which is about less than half of what JBL wants for theirs.

In general, IMHO, if money is the factor then I guess Logitech makes sense along with a couple other 2.1 or 5.1 systems. If money is not the problem then the JBL Eons will make you very happy with the very nice sound across all frequencies.

Best
Scott
