I just got back a Casio MZ2000 from a friend's house after 3 years..The adapter can not be found.. It is a 16 volt adapter....I tried a 13.5 adapter that works [powered up and functions seem to work on the screen]..My problem is NO sound from the speakers [on board] or thru the outputs...I can hear a trace of sound if I turn the power amp wide open on my keyboard amp, from one of the output jacks[but not the other]..No sound comes from the headphone jack..
There is no sound from the mic input ..

I am pretty sure it isn't the power adapter[a couple volts difference], or could it be?
I had no luck locating an AD-16 adapter..

Donny had a problem with a PSR3000...a phonejack circuit board crack created a similar problem that I have with the MZ....
Any ideas?

It's possible it is the adapter. If it's not getting enough juice it may not perform properly. Maybe those few extra volts are what the amp needs.

On a side note (GREAT KEYBOARD YOU GOT THERE). I've been missing mine A LOT lately.

Fran here's a good example of why it may be the adapter you're using.

I have XM radio that I use in my car and home. Well I wanted to avoid paying the $50.00 fee for the home kit, and when I saw the power adapter wasn't anything special I started looking. The unit requires 6V at 600mA. Well I had an adapter to a portable CD player that fit the jack. However it was only 4.5v and was just under 600mA. I thought what the hell give it a shot.

Well I was happy when I pressed the power button. The unit lit up and the display was clear. However, the moment I tried to press a preset button, the entire unit shut off. The problem..... "not enough juice". I've since bought a universal adapter with the required mA's and Volts.

A lot of electronics use these adaptors and if you use the wrong one on a unit, you could cause damage to the circuitry and end up losing the unit altogether...to much voltage is just as bad as to little or they would have a universal adaptor for everything...with too little power or voltage, the unit has to strain for the juice it needs to function and could cause irreversible damage to your unit.....

Tony is right! You have to make sure your volts and mA's match. If you underpower or overpower your equipment you really take a risk with perm. damaging your equipment.
