I think the complete keyboardplayer does not exist , we can only try to reach that level. Try to get the most and the best out of your keyboard.
For me a complete keyboardplayer is not the same as a topplayer.
I am not a topplayer , perhaps many of you are far better musicians but I like to use all the facilities of my G70.

If your friends T2 syles truly sound better coming out of the G70 as he thinks, why does he still own a T2? Surely he would sell it and just play the styles on the G70.
Being a music teacher he doesn't need both keyboards to teach on, one should be enough.
Also if he had downloaded the T2 styles off the net in the first place he could have saved himself more money by not buying a T2 at all. This all just seems silly to me

I begin to think all these fairy-tales are based on nothing and are just to keep teasing. From now I'll ignore them.

I just converted all the Tyros2 styles to the roland format and played them on my G1000.
A few did sound excellent..about 10% were very usable..More than 50% were useless to me..a combination of poor style selection[for me] and conversion that was not balanced..
For every Tyros2 converted style , I have a Roland style that sounds better..

In all I would have to say Tyros2 conversions could not sound better on a Roland..If that was true..No one would want a Tyros2 that sounds that BAD..

The musician I told from was not a friend of mine. I spoke to him just because he was playing a G70 like I do. He ownes a Tyros and a G70 because he has musicstudents playing those instruments. It is not strange for a musicteacher to have more than one instrument.
It was his opinion about the converted styles and not mine. But a fact is what I heard was very good.
I know it is not easy to get a good style when the style is a conversion but it is a fact that by editing and tweaking you can have a very good result.
This is not a fairy tale.

And with T2 conversions you need even more tweaking & editing due to S.Articulated & mega Sounds found on the T2....but if your willing to do your homework it can be achieved to a certain degree.

I've just come back from my local music shop (been looking at the Oasys again) and I took with me 10 T2 styles. I got my mate to put these into the EMC styleworks and converted them to G70 format. On initial playback they sound appaling but yes you can tweak them to some extent. However they still didn't sound anything like what comes out of the T2, there's no SA sounds, levels are all over the place etc so that was 1 hour wasted for me but at least I know that someone's hearing must be bad if they think they sound better on a G70!

I tried styles from T2 on G70. I can tell only that that if you use right velocity, effect and sysex is different same styles are played in this keyboard better. All is on good keyboard player. On bigger PA is sound better on G70. EMS is not enough for convert files. Please try them also with different software.

Much of this depends upon the person doing the coversions, and how much time and extra effort is put into tuning the conversions to perfection. I have all of the G-70 styles converted to PSR-3000 and they sound incredible. I've sent them out to hundreds of folks who wholeheartedly agree they sound absolutely fantastic, and a couple of those individuals, who also own G-70s said the styles were better sounding on the Tyros and 3000 than the orriginals on the G-70. Just running styles through EMC Styleworks and converting them to a specific keyboard is only a starting point. It takes endless hours to tweek and tune a style to make it sound good. To reach the outstanding state takes days, and in some instances weeks to achieve.

Cheers,

Gary
