What other features are we talking about, Stephen?

76 keys ----->Roland G70?

Guitar mode, real drawbars and since I've recently started to do some vocal work the best built in vocal harmonizer.(I'll need all the help I can get with vocals).

Donny, thanks for the well wishes. With all the recent posts on Roland products my interest was sparked in the G70. I've never been happy with 61 keys, but adjusted to them. I tried the routine of lugging around an 88 key controller and just don't want to go that route. I've been reading the G70 manual and listening to the demos today. I'm sold.

Hi Steve

Good luck on your new adventure.

Have you tried out the G70 in person, or just heard the demo's?

Just in case, I'd like to relate 2 different times I was sold just by hearing the demo's.

The first time I heard a certain model, I said I want that. I was lucky enough to be able to try out the PA80. It didn't sound even close to the sequenced demo's. I did not get it. Had no desire for it.

The second time when there was a closeout on the Technics KN2600. Everybody said it sounded just like the KN7000, had the same sound engine etc. The online demo's sounded fantastic. I unfortunately sold my PSR2000 to get it. I bought it at the wholesale dealer closeout price of $395, as I was working for a music retailer yet at that time. I thought how could I go wrong?

It sounded like absolute crap. I felt like I was overcharged even at the closeout price. It had nothing over Casio.

I don't plan on ever buying another keboard again until I get my hands on it, unless I can return it if I don't like it.

Best of luck in what ever you do.

For those that happen to like the PA80 and KN2600, I say, great, good for you, I'm glad you're happy. My intent was not to offend anyone but only to express my honest opinion, and a little hard learned advice along with it.

Scott

Scott, I played the G70 (OS 1) a couple of years ago. I liked the 76 keys and the feel of the action. I know the sound wasn't what I was looking for. Fast forward to this year I find myself playing more converted G70 styles on the Tyros2. They have become some of my favorites. And now with OS3 in place and the 76 keys it's the way to go. My only concern at this point is are the User Programs to create what we Yamaha players call gig disks as easy to create and organize as they are on the Tyros2 or PSR 3000? I'm hoping that isn't a show stopper. I welcome comments on that topic.

Scott, DNJ also sent me an mp3 of his playing "Wonderful Tonight" on the G70 it sounded fantastic. So it just wasn't on the demos.

Steve setting up UPG's is a snap saving all your info to a performance, name it......then you can scroll thru the list, search in several ways by alphabetical, song title, etc etc ... touch the screen and its there! The G70 has a great OS that is so easy to get around & setup that makes sense...stop thinking Yammy OS, once you get into the G70 you will realize what you've been missing regarding OS Arranger, SMF, & editing functions & operational navigation especially in Real Time performance. I've always thought it would be a perfect fit for you Steve, reading your posts thru the years....I always mentioned that to Fran many times....if you have any questions give us a shout. Im sure Diki & Soren can help you with answers also

Pretty much most of what you need in G70 information...

Donny thanks I'm sure once I get my hands on the G70 I'll have plenty of questions.

Diki, I've been checking out the info at roland-arranger.com no doubt I'll become a regular there.
