Sorry Nobby, I still have one, though it is "loaned" out, probably permanently.
Also have a PSR8000, which I believe was way ahead of its time, and remains an excellent keyboard. And the Karaoke Girl and Speedy Mouse work perfectly.

Aw!! Shuks!! Don I'd have two of them then, and I could send in one at a time, to get the new OS chips installed!
Really their going to fool around until these boards are out of warranty. What I read on here today is that they will only change them under warranty! Mine is about past the 90 day warranty now.
I thought my local dealer could do it! But
when he finds out how hard & delicate they are to change, he will probably back out,
and I can't blame him!
I really don't know where I'll have to send my board & how long I might be without it.
The only backup I have is the 510.
Oh well it's got me through several years, it will surly get me by untill I get the 2000 back!
"Oh Well" so much for things I can't control!
All the best ,
Nobby

I don't even think the update is released yet, is it? Yamaha has acknowledged the problems, but NOT promised a due date as of yet. Better log the complaint with the dealer so the warrentee will be honored.

That really isn't the greatest news for me Uncle Dave. I am sending my 2000 out for repair tomorrow ( 86 days into it ) because the discs no longer pop out of the floppy drive. They just sit there when I press the button. Seems like a faulty spring. So now it'll be gone for however long that takes to be fixed, and then I'll have to send it out again for an OS update. I'll be sure to lodge my complaints tomorrow though ( 87th day ). I have noticed that the registration settings fail at critical times, even though I have gone over the way they are supposed to work thoroughly and understand the initial setup functions and dialogue and the freeze function. I use my registrations mainly to recall voice layers and the corresponding mixer / effects settings. When I recall a registration, the accomp effects and settings are also affected, even when I didn't change them at all in saving the registration. This even happens when I use the freeze function. I had absolutely no problems like this with the 740. Occasionally, even the mixer settings / effects for the things I DID save are not recalled properly either, whether I have the freeze function on or off. There is no way I can trust the board for live performing the way it is now. I wouldn't be too happy if I got a distortion effect on an acoustic guitar or sax part. ( It happens now and then )

Sadly, I only have the very old PSS, not even PSR...
I just realized that it's illogical to relate PSR with portatone

PSS - PortaS Sound
PSR - PortaS Rone ???

I can only visit the music stores, and play the keyboard there... I've played the up to 9000 PRO... That's the only way for me to play the 9000 PRO, as I didn't have enough money to buy it...
