Where is all the hype regarding the Tyros II?

I thought today was the Release date, but even Yamaha's site doesn't say anything regarding the new model?

Anyone have any sites anouncing this beast?

Got to agree with you kbrkr, all the hype seems to be coming from various Keyboard Forums - lots of free publicity for Yamaha! Granted the website quoted by Dreamer gives a taster of what's to come but it's hardly a Loud, Trumpeting Fanfare!
I was looking forward to learning something from the Yamaha Club Website via the forums at http://www.yamaha-club.co.uk/ but this has been transferred to the website quoted here!
It's hardly an impressive release!

Hey maybe my eyes are going on me or something, but what model is that on the top of the page listed by by Dreamer? Anyone notice anything odd about the picture of the keyboard in black and white in that picture? I noticed a rotary knob on the right of the keyboard..... Aren't the volume knobs, ect located on the left of the PSR's??????? Am I missing something.

Tyros 1 has a rotary knob too. You can use it to scroll through menu selections.

Don,
True, but this pic is not of the Tyros1???? This pic has internal speakers and the buttons aren't like the Tyros1. The black buttons on this model (if it's the Tyros) should be Transparent because they light up. Maybe my mind is going, but I don't recall any PSR's having that rotary knob located on the right side (and having internal speakers). It kinda looks like the PSR-3000, but the knob on the right is what's so odd?

Also have a close look at the pic and compare it with the PSR-3000. If the pic is just a flip flop of the PSR-3000 it still does'n't match up because of the number of black buttons on that side of the keyboard. The pic shows a row of 3, then 4, and then another 3, plus a lonely (1) by itself. This doesn't match the PSR-3000. Call me crazy, but I can't make heads of it.

I thought maybe it was just a flip flopped PSR-1500, but it doesn't even match that boards button layout. Hey if something stands out that seems odd to me I'll start asking questions

Whatever it's a pic of it is flip flopped. If you look close in the bottom right corner of the pic you'll notice where the pitch or modulation wheel is (on the right) and that's just not normal However the problem is that the button configuration (from what I know) doesen't match anything Yamaha has out right now.

Because it's amazing how you noticed a detail that nobody else had noticed... and at the same time didn't spend a single word to comment the most important thing on that website: how the Tyros II sounds.
(This is not a negative remark: it's just that I am always fascinated to see how different we human beings are... )

Yeah your're right that is odd. I've alway been like that I guess. People are always telling me I pick up on things that they wouldn't have seen. I don't know maybe it's all those years I wanted to be a detective, and reading all those detective stories to solve the crimes

Could some other members please have a look at this picture and see if you can tell what model it is? I know I'm not going crazy, but the picture doesn't match up to anything (that I know) Yamaha has out at the moment.

The pic is flip flopped, but it still doesn't fit.....

It is a computer rendering of a non-existant keyboard.
Unless it's a prototype of Yamaha's next workstation
I've never seen black keys designed half grey as they appear on the picture.

If I were to use my imagination and try to identify the instrument shown, it might as well be the 76-key version of Tyros 2 - Tyros 2 Pro

It would be nice if it's a prototype, but it probably is a result of someone's "wishful" imagination.

It still raises question though

Well, so much discussion over a hazy photo.

I've long ago learned not to put too much faith in anything photographic on the web - too many Photoshop experts out there (after all, how can all those mugshots in dnj's recent thread be such a handsome bunch? :-)).

Grey, the grey 'black' keys may be the result of reproducing a colour pic. in greyscale, or just 'screened back' for effect.

Looking at the specs I see there's not a complete list of Voices in the 'complete' spec sheet. There IS an additional 4 Sweet! Voices over the current model and also 8 additional Mega Voices.

What I'm wondering is if the Mega Voices (all 18 of them) are actually playable in a Live setting or just the Super Articulated Voices that are playable. If both, i.e. Mega and Articulated are playable that would be a real bonus because then you would have a total of 60 'super' Voices, i.e. 18 Mega and 42 Articulated, which is quite a few actually. 60 'super' Voices is a lot more variety of Voices than you may get in the 'total' amount of many traditional Digital or Stage Pianos, etc. Plus the additional Sweet! Live! and Cool! Voices of the Ty2 certainly helps also.

Okay, it's 5 lbs. heavier than the current Tyros making it 32 lbs. The funny thing is if they got rid of the cup holder on the right side and put the Pitch Bend and Modulation wheel up a ways they could easily put 15 more keys (76 total) on the current dimensions of the Tyros2. 15 additional keys could not weigh much more, so theoretically a 76 key Tyros2 could weigh in at around 33 or 34 lbs. And I'm willing to bet that Yamaha could essentially eliminate 5 of those pounds if they buckled down and designed it even more efficiently and used even lighter and more durable composites that are available even as we speak. So a 76 key Tyros2 with a rugged and solid build quality with quality parts plus a more efficient design with lighter composites could weigh in at as little as 28, 29, or 30 lbs. It's very doable in my opinion.

I keep hoping...

Best regards,
Mike

Squeak,
I just receveid a personal message from James Woodcock (Administrator of Yamahapkowner.com):

"Just read your post on Synthzone, the keyboard is not Yamaha or any model for that matter, its a 3D model a friend created so we can rotate and use it wherever we need it. It is based losely on the PSR-3000 but it is unique I suppose."

The 9000 had its rotary knob on the left-hand side - but it's not that one.
Yes, the launches took place - I was at the Caister one. But we were an audience of pensioners at an organ festival - not a firework beween us. All the effort obviously went into the launches, but isn't the weekend to blame, considering there was an embargo on news before Saturday morning? Depends on website workers really.
Nobody where I was was moaning about 76 keys; we knew what league we were in. The space on the right referred to leaves room for USB memory sticks, external HDs, etc.

Ha, ha, LOL, it's incredible how a single picture of a non-existant keyboard can garner so much activity here. I just love it.

So much more activity than the Tyros2.

Check out Yamaha's own site. Not even a demo or a spec sheet!!!
