The little amp I use for nursing homes is falling apart, so I am in the market. I see the Logitech Z2300 advertised on the Web for under 100US. Is this one of the models you have been praising so highly?

If not, which Logitech is it?

(I have Logitech Z3 @40 watts. Sounds great at home but is not loud enough for playing out.)

The Z-2300 seems to do well with audiences to 75 people, while the Z-5500 will easily handle 125 people. Both provide outstanding sound quality, crisp vocals, gut thumping bass and incredible highs. Some folks claim they're light on the mids, but much of this depends on how you set your keyboard's EQs.

Cheers,

Gary

Hi flatfoot in Sac town from Bebop in San Jose.
I bought that little Z2300 mostly because everyone was ranting and raving about it. I am using it here in the studio for playbacks and it does a great job. it is working behind a Mackie 16 channel mixer so I can really control the EQ.
I bought this several months ago at Best Buy in San Jose. It was 199.00 and I got a 50.00 mail rebate so under 99.00 sound like GO FOR IT
Best,
Bebop

I finally gave in and bought a pair of Z2300's. No regrets whatsoever. They are my studio PA system. Coupled with my Behringer 1204 pro mixer, I really like what they do here. I will not be using them as mixdown monitors, instead opting for a pair of dedicated monitors, but they really do fill the room up nicely with sound, and my older PA system ( Peavey 260 watt amp and Kustom speakers ) now sits in my " gig - bag " storage area.

I am going to try the 2003's out on my next gig and if I like them there, I will buy another pair or perhaps the 5300's just for playing out so that I can leave the original pair permanently in place.

I have a pair of Logitech Z3's now. My DGX keyboard has no EQ. The combination is too boomy in the bass and I cant do anything about it. I would like to boost it at around 250 hz and cut below 120, but I have no EQ.

Am I goind to have the same problem with the Z2300? If they are too boomy I might not be able to use them.

While the Z-5300 has better mids than the Z-2200/2300, and a much fuller sound, there is still no EQ adjustment in the amp. Consequently, you may wish to run your keyboard through an inexpensive mixer such as the Alesis 6FX, which has both EQ and effects. The mixer cost $99 and well worth the price.

Good Luck,

Gary
