I have just joined your board and look forward to talking to you all.
I am a Proud psr3k owner and have been playing (by ear)for the last 10 years. Never was much good at reading music so at present I am taking lessons at my local yamaha school to help with this and to also brush up on music theory(which I find very interesting).

Mjtosh,
Welcome to th Synthzone arranger forum. Your lessons are teaching you the theory behind why your ears tell you what to play. Did you teach yoursself to play by ear or is it a gift? Do you also play chords by ear? I accidentally taught myself to play melody by ear, but need to have the chords in front of me.

Thanks everyone for your kind welcome.
Starkeeper my dad has played accordion by ear in a band for the last 40 years, so i guess its a gift thats passed down.As for chords at the start i tended to play everything in C as i knew there would be a fair chance that i would be using C G F Am, then I bought a book that had the circle of majors and minors in it, I can now play in the key of Bb!!!!! The classes are helping big time.
Bebop i wouldnt know where to start with sending in a song, sorry.

Welcome to the Twilight Zone! BTW, if you want to brush up on your chords, you may want to also visit www.psrtutorial.com and click on the lessons tab. Lots of great folks there as well.
