Is there something similar to these boards without all the song lyrics and 2000 internal songs, etc? An arranger with great sounds and styles without all the vocal harmonizers, mic input,

I am a Yamaha and Technics dealer .The alternative is the Technics KN2400 .

I just bought KN2400's at a very special deal that would make the PSR2100 seem expensive . ..........Dan O'

It would tough to beat the DGX-500 which is new this year. Has lots of great features, easy to use, and the price is about half what you would pay for a PSR-2100.

Good luck,

Gary

Well, I cant'see KN24000 in your page, only KN7000.

What about KN2600, as compared with PSR1100?
Do you think it has better or similar sounds, styles and buliding quality at all?
Are there styles for it on the net?

I think the styles and sounds are similar between the KN 2400 or KN2600 and Yamaha PSR1100 and 2100 .
The KN2600 does give you the ability of the SD card . What's good about the SD card ?
Audio playback ...which gives better playback vs. a midi file .
KN2600 also has a nicer screen vs the PSR series . Dan O'

The best I can tell from looking it up, the 2100 has 32mb of ram waves and 64 polyphony, while the 1100 has 16 mb ram and 32 note polyphony. other differences?

And the 2100 has the Vocal Harmony, Modulation Wheel, More Sweet!, Live! and Cool/! voices, Organ Flute voices with Virtual Draw Bars, more DSP (which means more simultneous effects).

Regards,

Yes, Steve, but PSR2100 has too:

-smaller keys (not standard size piano keys, as Technics, Roland or Korg have).

-bad key feel.

-worse building quality at all

-more repetitive styles (usually less bar number), not rich styles at all (only good intros and endings)

So, each kb has its pros and cons.

Yeah, those yammies are a real piece of crap. That's probably why just about every gigging musician that uses his keyboard and voice as a primary source of income uses one. Sure makes me happy that I like playing these junk piles, especially this time of year when you're playing doubles and back to back Christmas parties with those cheap keys. And all of those awful sweet and live sounds--wow! What poor tastes all those folks we're playing for must have. They must all have hearing defects, especially when they tell you how great the keyboard sounds and wonderful the volcals sound. Gimme' a break!

Happy Holidays,

Gary

When I was playing the PSR9000, it had to have the contact strips replaced once a year. Then I went with the 740...same thing.
I have been playing the PSR2000 for over two years without so much as a hicup. (I am not sure, but I don't think the PSR2000 uses the key contact strips).

Like Gary, I carry and treat it like a new born baby...I am good to it. It is good to me.

Good post Gary...

Eddie....the 2k, if not mistaken uses a singlerubber cap type of contact under the keys vs the 9k strip aprox
$30.00 ea..+ labor....of which I had to replace 2x on both my 9k's when I owned them. Not to mention the on stage embarrasement when a note goes terribly bad!

Hi Bluebird,
the earlier kn keyboard styles from the KN2,3,5,6 now appear to be officially available for download (free) for the kn24/26 on the kn7 website.
http://www.technicskn7000.com/home.asp

I've started up a bit of a styles group for the kn7 hoping to encourage users to create their own styles using the onboard facilities, ie easy composer, pattern copy editing, sequencer ( midifile) to style functions, but that's got a long, long way to go. As far as I'm aware kn24/26's can load kn7 composer styles, I'm not sure how the style creation facilties compare to the kn7's , though.

best wishes
Rikki

Yamaha keyboards will never be as reliable as Roland. Thats my main reason why I will never buy Yamaha.

I had exactly the opposite experience. I had nothing but trouble with Roland G800, from paint wearing off the buttons, to loose, sticky buttons to the joystick spring breaking in the first month.
Never had the first problem with Yamaha, and owned more than a dozen. Go figure!
