It was shipped with no insurance directly to your address as a courtesy of being faithful to synthzone all these years answering our petty/stupid questions.

If it did not arrived this time, maybe next year we'll send another one !!

Fran is old....G1000 is old.....the match is older. The G70 may not fit.

Happy Birthday and then some!!!! You can't have to many more....the G1000 won't survive. Fran's life without music?

Fran,

Let me know what you think, I've had mine for a couple of months and still learning, sometimes very happy and sometimes dissaponted, would really like to see what a true professional can do with this machine.

Frankie, I don't have a G70 yet, or is one on it's way....I will have to wait to try one..

Whay's your straight up opinion, now that you have spent time with the G70?

Why do you think there are so many negative people?

My guess is the G70 will be a great board, and as always the people that don't want to put effort into learning the unit , for the most part...are the negative people..with a few exceptions..

Well, I'll have to say that when I first got the G70, i was very dissapointed. Then i did the update to 1.10.
Everyday I play it I like it more. I wish they had some more select styles. Also some of the best styles and sounds are hidden. For example we all think the best sounds would be on the first page and the first sounds like the grnd x. instead a couple pages in I'm finding some very nice sounding instruments.

Yes some sounds are bad, they sound like old sound canvas stuff ( probably is ) But every keyboard has their bad sounds.

The styles are not as wow as Tyros or Ketron. But they are very smooth and have a nice feel with a full sound that doesn't seem anoying.

Some styles are bad like the folk waltz, has this repetious bass line that makes me want to kill myself. But it's easy enough to change.

I think with the midi file playback, the great feeling keys, the great vocal section. It's a winner, If they really want it to be a champ I think they need to change or add a couple more styles, a little too much in the bossa novas and more traditional and dance stuff should be added.

Only my opinion

As you know styles are easily available,,I am glad to hear, styles are basically the only major item on your G70 wish list...

Now if I can only find out what has turned others off...there must be an answer...maybe just indifference..

BTW, you are correct, there are a lot of sounds that reside in other banks [that are great]..after all, there can only be a single default patch to each tone..
Even with my G1000, some of my favorite patches are from the G800 bank and a couple from the E86 group..Same with my VA 7, I prefered many of the G1000 bank[maybe I am just use to them]tones...

I think the price and the fact that it's hard to find is pissing people off. Also there really is no tweaking needed. when you use it in a live situation it sounds very good. I don't always agree with the sound selection or combiniation but it is very good.

I remember everybody crying about the SD1 being unstable and very hard to work with, but in the long run I think it was and still is one of the best arrangers ever made.

When the PA1x came out, people said the same thing, it doesn;t sound right, it's too expensive,

I have to give it to Yamaha but I think allot of people are blind to allot of Yamaha's problems,

How can you release a keyboard like the Tyros with the world's worst mic and voclizier set up, the board is designed for a one man band and yet they skimp on that?

What about the shape, where is this going to fit easily on a stand, come on?

It looks like a space ship control board. with toy piano keys

But It is a great board with great sounds styles and operating system, and many professional make this board really sing.

So everybody has their opinions, and mine is once Ketron releases a new board, I am there

Frankieve, I totally agree. Can't wait for the Ketron. But of course, I'll check out the new Yamaha, if and when it gets to the states, in the meantime. I expect it toward the first of 2006, regardless of what Yamaha is hyping. But it could be sooner. I could be wrong.... Nahhh!
