This has to be true! Last night I spent a good deal of time playing on a Kurzweil stage piano that had weighted and full size keys. I played on the Kurzweil for at least an hour, and when I went home and played my PSR-550, I felt SO cramped.. I think the over all length and width of Yamaha's PSR's are not truely full size as advertised...

As we know, just because Yamaha advertises something, it "ain't necessarily so".
I'm pretty sure the PSR8000 keys are larger than the 2000.
I think I'll measure them.

Hi squeak_D,
The "key`s" on a Y2K are smaller than "full size" , not by much, but I know what you mean about "feeling cramped". When I go from playing my "Hammond" to my "Y2K" my fingers "trip-over-themselves" hahaha. But , I still find a 61 key manual more comfortable to play than two 49 key manuals.
Hi DonM,
I haven`t measured them but there is a difference in feel (of course we all know about the PSR toy keys ) As I think about it the X4500 that I had about 12 years ago must of had "real full size keys" because it never felt cramped going from KB to organ (the X4500 was , by some part of the "PSR" line but very high end and much better quality. The bad thing 8 note poly what can you do with 8 notes, drop-out all over the place!!!!! ). But you guys would have loved the "action" not weighted but far better than the "PSR`s now. Maybe "Yamaha" will see that we need quality without going broke or being a $1000+ beta test site!!!!

Hi Jedi,
I remember the X4500. It was very sturdy.
I'm sure the PSR8000 keys are slightly larger than the 2000, and I KNOW it's built a lot more solidly.
I don't mind the light action, though, as I was never a piano player.

Does the PSR9000 and 9000Pro also have the smaller keys?

The PSR-9000 would most likely have the same size keys as the PSR-740, and the 2000. The 9000 Pro has actual full size keys. The Pros keybed was taken from the Yamaha EX-5. It has great synth action and true key size..

Roland'd G1000 has the Longest white keys I've ever seen. The PSR9000's keys don't push down as far as many other keyboards. I think the "standard" has yet to be disgussed with all the manufacturers. So far - Full size just means, NOT the tiny toy keys, I suppose.

Uncle Dave,
You're right about the PSR9000 keys not pushing as far down as others.. It's like that with almost all of the PSR models. The keys seem to bottom out rather quicky.. I notice that a lot when playing my PSR-550... I remember when I owned the Casio MZ-2000. That board had full size keys, and the keys took more pressure to bottom out too. When I sold that board and bought the PSR-550 it took me a few days to get used to the PSR action again. I was afraid that I'd break the keys....
