Thanks Uncle Dave

Synthzone is no longer listing your e-mail address, so could you give it to me here or e-mail me at ClifAnd@aol.com? I do think having a lower rack tier makes a lot of sense. I actually have a keyboard stand that has 10 rack spaces in two columns above the keyboard, but would like something less obtrusive. I hope I can put two two-rack-space modules side by side under the keyboard and still have a good playing height.

I didn't realize that my email was not showing up - sorry! I gor your email and I'll send you a few pics very soon. Are you moving this set up, or will it stay in one place? That makes a BIG difference! Also, what other gear are you using at the same time : speakers, amps, CD,MD whatever....

Uncle Dave,

I don't think that was a fat comment at all. It's just that as one ages it gets hard to see things close-up. You're not as old as Don though.

I have a good studio set up, so this is for visiting musical friends. At minimum, I need my 61-key Karma and an expected voice prism and someway of mixing them. I have a Roland 12-E 2 rack space mixer for now. In the studio I use a Caver amplifier with Tannoy monitors, but I am inclined toward getting Samson Ex-20 (or EX-30s and do away with the mixers). Depending on who I visit, speakers are not always necessary.

Sometimes, however, I might want to bring my Roland A-50 controller and/or my Roland XV-5080 sound module. So the portable setup is not completely fixed. For the time being, I jsut want to find a good setup for the karma, voice prism, 12E 2-rack space mixer, and maybe a 1 rack-space power conditioner.
I could use a 1space mixer if I had to. I have an old six-input Korg mixer.

Or, what do you think about Karma, Voice Prism, and two Samson EX-30s?

Tom,
Isn't it past your bedtime? Just because I don't have time to comment much right now, doesn't mean I'm not taking notes!

Clif,
If you go the Samson route - you only need ONE EX30 and then get an EX20 for the other side. The unit is set up for stereo that way. Why waste the money on a second mixer, use longer cables, etc...... ? If all you need to bring is the harmonizer - the SKB 3sp shallow rack MIGHT work. That is one unit that is very shallow, itself. You'd have room for the voiceprism and a power strip too.

I used to use a welded rack 30mm angle iron. I had four 6 inches 180 mm I suppose pumped wheels £25 each. It was 4 tier (wedding cake inspired!!!!) Top was old corg x300 next was corg 01wfd next corg sgid piano.Last was three powered mixers. Two of us hauled it everywhere but up stairs events we needed four people to lift. When I went back on my own I changed back to the long haul. I do miss it though. Arrive at gig and in 10 minutes we had take of.
