The Northern shore is not so interesting, because is relatively more crowded (there goes the trans-canadian highway, from Montreal to Toronto); the southern shore, near the US border, is more interesting and wild, IMO.

Hi DanO,
Yeah I share Andrea's opinion. I traveled from the falls (Fonthill) to Toronto, Brighton, Quebec to Fredericton (New brunswick). A cousin of me used to live AT Lake Ontario... his garden ended in the water.
For us 'Dutchies' it is hard to understand a 'lake' can be about 8 times the size of the country we live in. (HUGE !!)

Canada is a fantastic country.

I spent a fair bit of time in Ontario, and unless it's drastically changed, you could just walk across the lake and see if it's still as polluted as it used to be. Lake Ontario was really bad, but Lake Erie was the worst.
Wanna go somewhere nice. Brighton, Ontario, Presquille Park. Very tiny place...but clean.

I live in Toronto (right on Lake Ontario). I love the southern part of the lake (close to Niagara Falls), virgin nature and nice beaches. Generally speaking the Canadian side of lake Ontario is much nicer than the American side. Yes we do have few nice beaches but nothing compared to Virginia or Florida !! You guys are lucky.
