OK, I'll bite. The video is about 18 months old. I don't know of anyone who has one, but it looks like Roland has thrown everything A/V into its RK digital orchestrator keyboard. Judging by the RK line prices, this is a pretty expensive toy.

If it were of a portable (???) nature like the G70, I could see a FEW people making their money using it. You certainly wouldn't be carting all your necessary equipment in ONE trip and the big-screen LCD alone would raise your rates by at least 20%, not to mention your new 80g iPod and the cheap-ass mics you'd have to buy to plug into the bottom of the keyboard.

Somebody's gonna get one and tell us how great it is and then a second person will hop on the bandwagon. Next thing you know we'll be arguing about the clarity of the pictures and the optimum size of an LCD monitor to cart around. Not my idea of what I want to do.

OK, try this... I don't think it's been released, especially in the US and the price is projected at a whopping $7200.

A great example of what suckers are willing to spend on 3 or 4 $100 items crammed into one box.

You know Donny, you're probably right. My old neighbor would probably trade in his KN7000 for one of these. Look at how sparse the control panel is - home players will love that.

I stand corrected. Start lining up at your local digital piano/appliance store now.

Donny, I was in the market for a "gigging" organ. That's ORGAN, understand, ORGAN. I wanted a board that best emulated a Hammond B3 in a lightweight, good-sounding, playable, economically priced, package. The one that most closely met my criteria was the Nord C1. I don't really see a connection with what you're implying. Maybe you can explain it to me.

Its a personal thing chas.....you might think something is worth the bucks ....
I might think its outrageous! just as you were implying that people are suckers to my posting of the RK500...if you enjoy something no matter what the price its worth it to them in many ways besides the cost. I personally would never buy the C1 even if it was free but I dont consider you a sucker.....but you love it!
so you can now see my point.

enjoy what you BUY

Donny, obviously our respective views of the world (along with the interpretation of language) is quite different. Are you saying that, from a musicians point of view, that you equate this:

---------------------------------
"Echo and Voice effects (Kids, Bear, Robot, Duck, Alien, Computer, Female, Male, Pitch Correct, and harmonization to melody)
Visual accompaniment modes, including Piano Roll, Slide Show, DigiScore notation, Lyric display

Connect and incorporate portable audio/video devices, digital cameras, video cameras, CD and DVD players"

-------------------------------------

with THIS?
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Nord-C1-Combo-Organ?sku=701726

As far as not "buying one even if it was free" (and without getting into the logic of THAT statement), maybe that's because you're not an organ player. From a gigging perspective, the C1 makes as much sense for me as your PA800 (or whatever it is this week) does for you.

I wasn't "attacking" your posting (what's to attack?). I was just pointing out that some people are willing to pay exorbitant sums of money for some frivilous features that are relatively inexpensive just because they've been integrated into an attractive package. Usually, they are features that we'd never use anyway.

No fight here, I just think it's kind of silly to equate a legitimate, professional instrument, with a rec room gadget. $7200.00? Come on, give me a break.

Ding, ding, ding... that's the end of round one.

Actually, I would like to say that Donny's posting of just the website lead to an open door for criticism and/or praise. Looks like criticism won out.

Honestly, Donny how were we to know you liked it?

Looking at it from that perspective, $7200 seems expensive, but not much more than other TOTL digital ensembles from Roland, Yamaha and others. OK, if you are putting this out there as a HOME entertainment gadget, then maybe it's a cool thing.

NO fights here either Chas....just saying I dont think its an exuberant price for the RK500........if a person is willing to pay whatever price for what ever they want first off its no business of mine & if it makes them feel better so be it..... I'll not waste my time and just bypass your little dig of what I'm using "this week" & continue, as for not being strict Organ player you forgot one word .."ANYMORE" ...I've played, performed & owned more Hammond's in my time in bands then you can shake a stick at before Arrangers were main stream.
Anyway I'm done with this...I'm off to play my second gig of the day with my
Home keyboard that I love.

Huh? What the heck has that got to do with anything? You post a "naked" url and when someone comments on it, jerk goes the knee. Then you follow that up by making it about something totally unrelated. Hey, maybe if the music thing doesn't work out for you, you could have a career as a "spin" doctor (for the Republican party, of course ).

But hey, I'm sure there are some here that are able to follow your logic. I mean, what the heck, they re-elected Bush.
