Well, I bit the bullet and took Sam's Club up on a deal they had on the PX-555R. Keyboard, stand, fader pedal, microphone, and microphone stand, all for $689.00. So far, so good. The keyboard had a good feel to it, and the piano sound is very good. Other sounds could be better, but I bought it mainly for the 88 keys so I can use it as a controller. I'm still getting familiar with the keyboard, but it does look like it is just what I was looking for. Any words of wisdom anyone is willing to share, I will be glad to hear.

Jerry:

I bought the PX400r and by the looks of the specs at the Casio site they are pretty much the same piano. I bought mine in December and used it for a few gigs and it did the job well. I was however looking for something that had more styles, better voices and found that in the Yamaha PSR3000. So when all was said and done I'm using the PX400r as a contoller for the PSR 3000. I'm having great results. I have the luxury of 88 keys and a good piano action when I want to play piano solo without all the arranger features.

Thanks for the reply. I worked with the PX555R for 10 days and wound up taking it back. Like you said, good piano sound, good feel on the keys, but very limited on just about anything else. I'll just stick with my current 61 key Genesys SP, and when I learn how to play it well enough, I'll think about moving up to a full 88 key keyboard, such as the Genesys Ensemble. What a piece of equipment that is.

Is there ANY difference, outside of the color, between the Casio Privia PX 555(r) and the Privia PX 400(r)? I saw them both at Sam's, and the 555 was 100 bucks less than the 400. They both seem to have the same user manual. Thanks, Sandy
