Good afternoon,

Will buy one of the above tomorrow.

Just wanting a view on which.

The difference in price is $100 Australian (approx $US75).

The only differences in spec are:
- 3700 has floppy disk drive in addition to the 3200's smartmedia card
- 3700 has modulation wheel
- 3700 has left and right output while 3200 has headphone output only

A couple of questions, please:
- How much use would most people get out of the above?
- If one has a smartmedia card does one NEED a floppy drive?
- Is much sound quality lost by using a splitter from the headphone outlet rather than the 3700's L/R and mono out ports?

In short: if I buy the WK3200, will I wish in a few months I'd paid an additional $100?
Or if I buy the WK3700 will I spend $100 for features I'll never use?

you will kick yourself if you dont get the better one..the left right outs are line level and so are perfectly suited for input into a PA...headphone outputs are just that... for headphones, in an emergency they can be used for output but never as the normal....you will miss the mod wheel especially if you will be doing solos with the right hand...for the extra $100, imho, its a no-brainer...hope that helps

Floppy drive versus smartmedia?

So Falcon, who are you picking for the Grand Final? Being from Melbourne myself I know how the footy frenzy must be building there this time of year. I just haven't had the chance to go back there for quite a few years.

The capacity of smartmedia beats floppy disks hands down. A 1.4MB disk is so trivial compared with the capacity of most smartmedia cards. Plus cards are much less susceptible to magnetic corruption than disks are. The only extra expense is that you need to buy a relatively inexpensive card read/writer for your computer. But it's well worth it.

Thanks once again, Gents.

AFL Grand Final? Sydney. Probably.

Not much frenzy here yet. Still the buzz on everyone's lips of course but with bloody Sydney v Eagles, local interest is a bit half-hearted. Won't build until the "foreigners" from Perth and Sydney arrive later ini the week.

What the league is crying out for is for the Tigers to be in a Grand Final. They'd hear the noise from that all the way to Canada.

It is funny now that some AFL teams come from outside of Melbourne. I guess that changes things quite a bit. When I grew up the Swans were South Melboune and not Sydney. Back then it wasn't even AFL but was VFL. But I guess it's good for the sport to be national rather than just being confined to one state.

Good for the sport?
Rubbish!
Nothing less than a RICHMOND premiership is good for the sport.

The only good thing is: better some foreign mob like West Coast or Sydney win it than those evil mongrels at Collingwood or Carlton.

Thanks for the advice. I've just rung the music shop and changed my purchase from WK-3200 to WK-3700. Will have to take an extra hundred quid with me tomorrow when I pick it up, that's all.

Another reason for buying the 3700 is t control the variable leslie simulation for the organs using the modulation wheel rather than the modulation button on the 3200. With the wheel you have varying speeds and with the button it is just one click on and off.
There are also times someone with an older keyboard might have used the floppy disk and you would just like to install it into your keyboard without having to use the computer to transfer the song onto the smart card. The last thing is that smart media cards are getting hard to find here in the USA. This technology is not being used on the newer models, including Casio's new replacements for the WK3200 and WK3700 (sd cards now). Even though floppy's aren't standard on computers anymore, it is still easy to find and buy them in all computer stores. We cannot find Smart Media Cards here in any of our Computer stores in Los Angeles, Ca.. We must purchase on line and then they are often times out of stock.
