Anyone have a feel for how many keyboards are sold in a particular model? Say, something like a Yamaha whatever or a Korg whatever. Are we talking about a few thousand units or tens of thousands of units or more?

Just curious.

Has anyone in the world bought a Yamaha psr1500?

Gary, the link does not work for me.

I was just wondering when companies ramp up to produce new models... I have no feel for how many units they sell. It would be interesting to know. I knwo it varies, obviously, but I am clueless.

Bill,

You must be a member of the forum--sorry about that. You can visit the site at http://www.svpworld.com sign up, log on and then click the link and you'll be able to view it.

As for the total sales, I don't have a clue.

Gary

I'd be interested to know also. How many of the Tyros were made worldwide?
Maybe some of the factory guys, or the sales reps that visit here could help us.

But how many do they build?
when they come out with a new Roland G70 do they plan to make 1000 or them or 10,000 of them?
The motif or they Korg or the GEM how many do they build at the factory in lets say a year.
How many units are sold worldwide.

I don't know if these numbers are public but I thought someone might have an idea on it.

I don't know the numbers for arrangers, but I do have some for some synths. I think originally 500 Karma were made and maybe 20,000 have been sold to date. Clavia brags that 17,000 Nord Electro were sold (and this may have been total for two models). Blockbuster synths can sell 100,000 to 300,000 units. I think with mass market arrangers, manufacturers have a pretty good idea how well they will sell and manufacture accordingly. For more specialized items, like the Karma, Yamaha 9000Pro, I think they make small initial runs to measure interest, and then decide how many to manufacture and at what rate.

Well, the Korg M-1 set the record at over 100,000 - according to Mark Vail in an old keyboard magazine.

But its like publishing - you make a run, sell it, make a run, sell it, etc... till they stop selling.

If I'm not mistaking....keyboard sales for 2004 were in the $360,000,000.00 area.

The Music Industry generated 7 billion dollars last year. 1.5 billion was Guitar Center Alone.
