How exactly does this sequencer work? Will it work with anything with a MIDI socket? I plan on using it with re-birth, a CS2X and an Akai S20. Will this work? And how do you do live stuff on it?

The MMT-8 will record any midi event info. that I am aware of. This includes all channel(notes,pitch bend etc.) & sysex info. It doesn't have very much memory-64K-but you can record an 8 bar phrase and have that repeat as many times as you like in song mode. That is a very efficient way to use memory if the music you record has lots of repeating stuff. The main advantage for playing live with this unit is that it has 8 tracks that can be muted in real time. These are not like most software sequencer tracks because they can have up to 16 midi channels each on them.
