Hi
In September 2005 I started a post on what your ultimate set up would be if money and room size was no object. http://www.synthzone.com/ubbs/Forum37/HTML/011502.html
As it has been over a year since the post I thought it would be a good idea to ask again just to see how much has changed, however only include equipment (It doesnt matter what type providing it is related to keyboards and music) that is available, (Not a Wish list which is covered in other posts) it does not have to be new.
You can also have a separate rig for home and gig use.
Mine remains pretty much the same as last time, but here it is again.

1. Hammond B3 (Still no substitute for the real thing)
2. Kurzweil K2600 (Still the best Piano and String sounds, and that includes Ivory
And the Vienna String Orchestra VSTs)
3. Wersi EX 1 Expander (For All Arranger, VST and Mixer Operations)
4. Genuine Leslie Cabinet (As with the B3 there is no substitute for the real thing)
5. For normal rooms all other sounds played through two Wersi T9000 speakers
6. For larger rooms all other sounds played through two Bose L1 systems.

Look forward to your posts
Have a good Christmas

Bill

Hmmm...'money is no object'. Here goes:

1. A nice baby grand. I always wonder how that MIDI Grand Yamaha would be like (the one in Peter Baartman's demo)

2. The piano would be hooked up to a nice microphone and monitor, and to a nice mixer.

3. Couple video camera's..pretty much a nice set up like Peter's (complete with lighting, ect). Also included are the computer with video editing software.

4. for recording, perhaps a nice set of already programmed soft synth and a nice computer to go with it along with a user friendly software/controller.

5. A nice 76 key MIDI board.

6. Basic, but nice band set in a different room for recording.

Can't think of anything else right now.

Oh Hum

These are the culprits that started it all.
http://theatreorgans.com/
And just in case the organ went out of tune I would need a backup like
http://walkertheatreorgan.com/

Of course I would need the following for a well rounded collection

B3 with Twin leslies

Any of the above Midi'd with the Genesys XP and the Wersi Expander

Roland G70 & a Tyros 11 for goofing off, oh shoot forgot about Korg must as well take one the thier top arrangers too.

Wersi Louvre

Kurzweil K2600

And someone who could play the damn things.

Merry Christmas to all

Jerry

Studio:

Fairlight Anthem HD Console
Fairlight CMI III/MFX2
Forat F9000
Korg Oasys
Akai/Linn MPC3000 fully expanded
ARP 2500
ARP 2600
Moog Memorymoog with Lintronics Modification
Oberheim OB-Xa
Oberheim Matrix 12
Rhodes Chroma
Roland Jupiter 8
Serge Modular loaded with more modules than one person could ever need or want
Sequential Studio 440
Sequential Prophet VS
Sequential Prophet 10
Steinway 9' Grand Piano
Voyetra Eight
Waldorf Wave with 48 voice expansion
Wersi Louvre
Yamaha CS-80
More outboard gear and FX devices than I could mention here.

Live:

Wersi Abacus Duo Pro V7
Mediastation X-76
Korg Oasys
Sequential Prophet VS Rack
Voyetra Eight
Fairlight Dream Station HD

This relatively small system would make set up and tear down quite simple but still give me everything I need except the large analog synths which would be a nightmare to transport. I'd sample all the modular and larger analog synth sounds needed and play them back from the Mediastation and Abacus. I could also use video playback from the MS to add background themes and scenes synced with the music. The Fairlight would allow me to do automated mixes live as well as add background tracks for more complex songs.

4 Bose PAS systems (for 4-piece band when available)
4 MusicPad Pro's

Two of each (one for home, one for road):
Yamaha Tyros 2
Korg PA800 (even though I haven't even seen one)
Ketron Midjay

High-dollar wireless mic
High-dollar wireless for guitar
(so I can move around, jump on tables and act like a rock star, etc.)
Fender Strat
Fender Tele
Martin D-28
Rock n Roller, max size
SUV or van to carry it all in
Two permanent groupies, former Miss Louisiana winners, who also double as roadies because they love me so much.

Why are we always Dreaming???....

Lets discuss how to better operate, play better, with what we already have in the real world...everyone always wants more...or what they cant have......without realizing that what we have now is wonderful & not fully appreciated, utilized enough or explored enough.....

Uh, I get your point... but... how 'bout because it's fun? And because if no one ever dreamed, we'd still be in caves, eating roots and berries. Not to mention never to have discovered musical instruments without someone willing to dream a bit.

Yep, there's no doubt in mind I haven't even tapped the power of a psr2000, which is what I still use. I'm still learning things I can do with it. But... I want a new something or other that doesn't use floppies, that's for sure!

It's statments like Donny's and Gary D's( in another thread)that keep me with my 3000. I often get caught up with newer must be better. But the 3000s got lots going for it. Once I hear the PA800 I may take the leap and still keep my 3000. But the bottom line is I'm always learning more about the 3000 and it serves me well.

On another note, I dreamt for many years of buying a grand piano. About 17 years ago I finally got up the cash and bought a 5 foot 8 Samick Grand piano. Loved it and played it frequently but as the years passed I played it less and less. Fast forward to 2005 all that dreaming and wishing. I found myself rarely playing the grand since weather conditions sent it out of tune you know hot humid weather and dry conditions in winter from having the heat turned on. Today the grand could sound terrific and tomorrow it would need tuning. . My Yamaha CVP107 and now 307 never went out of tune could sound like a Steinway or a Yammie grand. So I sold that puppy as I did with a B3(another dream machine) a number of years ago. Donny hit the nail on the head reality rather than the dreams. Yea, nice to dream but for this guy sometimes the chase of the dream is more fun than when the dream comes true.

Ok... I gotta get in on tis too....

Korg (of course) Oasys 88 key as a controller
PA1x-pro as the arranger (already have that)
OpenLabs Neko for use in the studio

This set up I could use the 2 Korgs as the live set up and then set them up next to the Neko in the Studio.

I think that would be ultimate....

Don't know about a mixer or other outboard gear......
