At the moment Im practicing piano using a yamaha P80 and getting ready to take grade 5 of the abrsm grades.
Im thinking of getting the new korg pa1x pro
as soon as I can get my hands on one,
The P80 does have weighted hammer action keys and feels like a real piano.
If I swapped the P80 for the korg pa1x pro which from what I can gather from this forum it does come with very good 76 weighted keys, would the keyboard be good enough to carry on with the abrsm grades up to grade 8 standard.
I dont have enough room to have 2 keyboards in my house and if I setup a second tier on the P80 stand the music becomes too far away to read.
Any replys would be most appreciated and thankyou.

Weighted synth keys are very different form weighted piano keys. The new Korg will not feel like your P80. Make sure you can adjust to the change before you trade out of the Yamaha.

Uncle Dave is right. There's two ways that I've seen them advertised. You have synth weighted and semi-weighted. My old roland XP-60 had semi-weighted keys (they had metal plates fixed to the underside of the key to give it weight)... Then I've seen syths labeled as synth weighted keys. My EX-7 was listed with synth weighted keys, but there was really no weight to them.. The action was just really smooth. You'll need to try this board out before buying it.. The Korg will feel much different compared to your PA-80..

dazart,
IMO you should have a look and play of a Yamaha P90.

Or perhaps a PF1000 is more what he's looking for: http://yamaha.com/yamahavgn/CDA/ContentDetail/ModelSeriesDetail/0,6373,CNTID%253D2750%2526CTID%253D205900%2526VNM%253DLIVE%2526AFLG%253DY%2526LGFL%253DN,00.html
