What is the difference between Solton sd1 and X1? Is it only speakers?

Thank you.

There seem to be some confusion...SD1 keyboard is ketron, SG1 is SOLTON/Genesys.

Differences between SD1 & X1

1 - SD1: more power and more music for real musicians
2 - New semi-weighted keyboard design with 76 keys
3 - New sound generation with 48 Mbyte wavetable ROM
4 - 16 Mbyte of RAM Sounds for audio files (.wav, .mps, .ins)
5 - A more powerful Arranger for real band accompaniment
6 - New structure for the 6 Gbyte Hard Disk
7 - DSP and Vocalizer for attached microphone (XLR and Jack)
8 - Advanced MIDI file Player
9 - Built in "notebook" display for lyrics or text files
10 - Slick performance control with registration and performance memories
11 - New user interface for intuitive operation

I thought Ketron and Solton is the same thing.. I guess I need more info on that.

SG1 is out yet, right? And SD1 is out already. Since when Solton and GEM are started to work together? (model wise)

Or is Solton or Ketron just a distributor name?

More confused.

And....

don't forget, the SD1 also includes:

1) a GREATLY improved acoustic piano sample. The X1 piano (imho) SUCKS!

2) rootless chord recognition: essential for a traditional jazz 'rhythm section' pro piano player.

Ketron makes keyboards--X1, SDl.
GEM makes keyboards--Genesis, WKs, Sks,
Solton doesn't make keyboards, they distribute them after putting their name on them. At least that's the way I understand it.

GEM is now using SOLTON Germany to distribute
GEM products under the Solton Name . That is my understanding

Difference between the X1 + SD1 you ask ?

The navigation is completely different with the SD1 . More Screen intensive vs. X1 .

All other responses are right on target !

Dano, you obviously have a lot of experience with both the X-1 and the SD-1, so I'd appreciate your comments on the following:

A couple of months ago I got my hands on a Ketron X series unit for about 10 days. A friend of mine loaned it to me. I got a reasonable feel for the quality of the voices, styles, etc., particularly compared to my MS60.

Since then, I've taken a look at the SD-1 140+ page manual that's available on-line. It looked to me like much of the "navigation" and display features resembled the X series fairly closely. Evidentally from what you are saying this is not the case?

Second question: I believe I've read from a Ketron AJ posting of several weeks ago that the new Ketron XD9 does depart from the X series and the SD unit significantly from the viewpoint of "navigation," display, etc. (Maybe a different operating system?) Are you able to comment on this?

Navigation .....

The X1 has the styles listed from Bank A 01-99 and Bank B 01 - 99 . The SD1 has no list . It does have style group catagorys .
You press a style catagory and the styles are displayed next to the function buttons.

The sounds are still lined up by catagory .
With the X1 you would look in the upper right hand corner of the LCD . With the Sd1 ...the sounds are by catagory , however they line up next to the Function buttons next to the LCD display . It's very different IMO .
