Anybody else here get caught up in the Lord of the Rings? My daughter dragged me out to see part 3 over the holidays and even tho we spent most of dinner conversation what it's all about, I was mostly lost, not having seen 1 and 2. Now someone gave me the DVD for The Fellowship (part 1). With all the extra info, commentary, I'm OD'd on LOTR. Definately good stuff tho.

My weakness is Smallville. I was big into the super heros as a kid, and I guess it hasn't worn off yet. Plus, the cast is so pretty !

Lord of the Rings is to complicated for me. I don't know who are the good guys and who are the bad guys (never read the books).
I like Smallville, Everwood, and Joan of Arcadia.

Way too slow and way too boring for me to enjoy.
But as a musician I have to say that the music really kicks ass.

Regards.
James.

I'll take Terminator 3 anyday over Lord of the Rings or Matrix.

I loved the books and like the films but there was a funny sketch on TV here in the UK over Christmas where the in-laws had been forced to share the son in laws LOTR obsession by watching the movie on DVD.

Ma and Pa in law finally get to bed and she says that she has never been so bored in her life. Pa in law says "Why did they have to make the film so long?"
Ma in law replies " It's because they all speak so slowly and deliberately.... I .....am......Gand..alf....the.... White.... If they all spoke at normal speeds the entire film would only be an hour and a half!"

I suppose you had to see it but I thought it was hilarious (and more than a little true!)

Best wishes
Tony

I first read LOTR in 1966 and had a hard time putting the book(s) down to go to work. Loved 'em! Then, in 1972 or 73 there was an effort to make a film of Book 1 and it was miserable; poorly done, too obviously faked and just rotten in general, so I was uncertain about this "new" effort, but I was pleasantly surprised at how good it is. However, you need at least 3 days to watch it since each episode is at least 3 hours long!!!!! And I, anyway, am not going to sit there for over 9 hours to watch the whole thing in one go.
