I phoned Yamaha today and they said the PSR3000/1500 will be launched in Europe at the Frankfurt International Music Fair on March 20 and available for purchase shortly thereafter. The estimated delivery would be end April, beginning May.

I was wondering that if the 3k was shown at NAMM a few months ago & its release is a few months away, then why isnt there any Demos, Videos, etc, etc, unless it's still in the prototype stages. Most Kb releases wold already have a "Teaser" demo online somewhere don't you think?

I agree - I find it strange there isn't more...

My guess is they're waiting until it has been released world-wide...

Jerry.

We go through this with Yamaha every time. They hype it for months, sometimes a year, before it is finished. When it's ready for us to be beta testers, they will start selling it. Then we'll find the bugs, then they won't fix them anyway.

Do you expect some Totaly new Yamaha styles besides the older ones on the 3k? Will you be able to edit features like registrations setups, smf, etc etc thru USB unlike oter units before the 3k?

I would expect some new styles that use the new mega voices on the PSR3000.

I agree. I am expecting ALL the good features of the Tyros and none of the bad features (like the price.) All wrapped up in a psr2000-esque shell. Ideal.

I don't expect to be able to edit styles/regs via USB. My guess is that USB will be used just to provide external storage.

I thought I read it will have an ethernet port - which suggests it has enough processing power (and software sophistication) to maybe support a limited sort of browser. I haven't read anything, but I'm guessing there will be some internet download site which the keyboard can connect to for downloading free and (undoubtedly) commercial styles, songs etc. Maybe a subscription service makes sense.
