About a week ago, I happily noticed that I became a member. I don't know exactly how many posts were needed but now I am in the "same level" as Fran Carango, travelling easy, Squeak, DonM, ScottYee and so many others.

Well, is it fair? there are guys here that play the piano more years than i am alive, and have posted thousands of posts.

Maybe we could have more "ranks" or levels, so we could easily distinguish the guys who contribute a lot, from the "casually replying" ones.
I understand this is more like a college than the army or God forbid the KKK, but I certainly don't feel I am contributing the same as DonM ot ScottYee does.

Just my opinion, what do you think?

We are ALL equal here ... the one time you might submit something may be the very bit of info someone else was looking for ...

The rankings were nice but got vaporized due to a computer frying...

That said, a cursory scan of this site quickly provides a good idea of the most active & knowledgable participants. They are routinely among the first to reply to questions and have consistently shared answers, ideas, suggestions, samples etc. faithfully.

The thought is nice, however...

Bill,
I understand that "ranks" are not needed, and
Tony, yes, anyone with just a little sense, can see clearly who is experienced or helpful and who is not.

However, I still think that introducing say 6 levels scattered in say 50, 100, 200, 400, 800 and 1600 posts and of course "re-rank" everyone here acording to number of posts, will make thinks even.
Thanks for replying guys.
Theodore

No thanks on the additional 'ranks'. I like it when after 30-40 posts one becomes a member. As was said earlier, we are all equal. If you can stomach us long enough to post, you deserve full membership. Anyway, additional ranks just mean more work for Nigel.

We don't need no stinkin' class system !
This place is about as perfect as you can get! We all define it by our own individual input, not by our own posting proficiency!

Go Nigel!

I don't think we need it either. Besides the BBS software doesn't support more than two so that pretty much is the deciding factor.

Besides where would we go from Member .... Geezer Member ?

I doubt I'll ever overtake UD, but at least this blows out of the water the myth of the 'asian stereotype' as quiet & reserved. - Scott 'Patton' Yee

Guys,
I read the posts below "return to your what you've been doing" last night at home, and I burst in laughter.
I didn't expect it to turn out like this. I loved the comments.

Note: Uncle Dave maybe has MORE posts, but in my limited experience, ScottYee has MUCH LONGER posts.

So, (I am laughing now) maybe we could count the total characters posted here and rank the memebers according to this and....Sorry, have to go now, I can hear sirens coming.

I myself can 'never get enough' of a quantity of quality posts.

Postings which provoke thought, provide useful information which is clearly presented & understood, and with a touch of humor, are typically my favorites.
