I've heard the term "it is a two five tune". What are some typical ii/V tunes? Satin Doll in C goes Dmin7 G7 Emin7 A7. Is Satin Doll a typical ii/V tune? What are some others?

Not familiar with the term Tom. Closest I could come up with is Summertime...which I guess you would call a ii/VI when compared to your Satin Doll reference.

Tom, Absolutely! it's definietely considered among the quitessential ii-V tunes. The ii-V (minor 2 to 5 dominant 7th) chord progression is most often heard in jazz standards but also seen in pop, country and other genres as well: http://www.jazztactics.com/iiv.html

Some that first come to mind for me include:

Fasinating Rhythym
Tea For Two
Never On a Sunday
Little Saint Nick (Beach Boys)
I Get A Kick (Out of You)
Going Out of My Head
Shoop Shoop Song (It's in His Kiss)
All My Loving (Beatles)

Tom,
Body And Soul
I Cover The Waterfront
I've Got You Under My Skin

And the list goes on and on. It's tunes that basically start on the 2minor chord.

Never heard of the two five, But I'm familiar with the jazz two five one progression (ii-V-I). Are these the same? similiar?
