For example these Peavey PA speakers look nice, Big, etc, etc, BUT in reality they weigh nothing!!!makes you wonder of the quality....
Try doing this with some JBL/Mackie, FBT, Yorkvilles

For Light Weight PA....I have this:
http://www.zzounds.com/item--ELVZX190

I first got 2, I like them so much, only 18 lbs each, that I got a second pair...

For powered mixer I use: http://www.yamaha.com/yamahavgn/CDA/ContentDetail/ModelSeriesDetailPF/0,,CNTID%25253D38160%252526CTID%25253D227800,00.html

Only 22 lbs.... Incredible sound for a light weight and no compromising sound quality. ;o)

I have used these this past summer. They are very light and sound great. I think I posted something about them previously.

Thanx Tom....for your input.
hows the G70 coming along?

I guess the light weight, perceived low quality that been going on here with the S900 & these speakers, etc, & anything plastic & lightweight makes people wonder & arugue....I'm not saying its true, but its a perception that wont go away!

So.... once you get used to a G70, even 88 lbs of speakers (2X44?) doesn't seem much...

That's what? Nearly FOUR PSRs?!

Nice highbeams, by the way, Fran...! I guess gear lust is a real phenomenon...

(chas... you are a FUNNY man )

Diki,

Those Peavey Pr speakers weigh I believe 22 pounds a piece. It's not 2 times 44 but 2 times 22.

Donny,

I'm not expecting to receive the g70 until later next week. AJ has to wait for the e-check to clear. I don't blame him for that. What I do wonder though is why does he have all these various brands of arrangers when he works for Ketron?

I liked the design of the Mars Music display rooms (when they were in business) better than GC. For some reason, I'm not enticed to try the keyboards and the sound room looks like a big wall of "don't touch" - too dark too. And who picks the sh&%*y music they play all day - I couldn't work there.

Fran, the man - are those the speakerless display cabs you have there?

I haven't seen Fran in more than a year, but from that photo DNJ posted I would say Fran has been hitting the all-you-can-eat breakfast bar on a regular basis. South Beach Fran--if Donny and I can do it, so can you!

I was going to say something similar to Gary's statement. Like.. what's that thing growing in Fran's stomach? Gary, being the gentleman that he is, said it in a more subtle round about way.

PS: As long as your BP is okay and you don't smoke, drink, or do drugs (forgive me, I'm not implying that you do but stating it as on the whole - for whoever), then I wouldn't sweat it too much Fran. Eating healthy and living in what is considered a healthy manner is the main thing. If your doing that, then a few extra pounds shouldn't be too much of a cause for over concern in my opinion. It's when the other things are neglected or abused that the added extra pounds begin to take a toll on your health, well being, and longevity. But I think Gary's suggestion is a good one. We only want the best for you Fran you know that. Although there may be some enemies here who don't I'm not sure. Just kidding...

Best,
Mike

I had a pair of the Peavey PR 15's when they first came out. They sounded really good, and were really light. I would still have them, but I opted to go with powered speakers.

Hey Eddie
Great to see you. I have not been in the best of health so I had a year out (at least from posting). I am on the hunt for a new keyboard so it won't be long I am sure before I am back in the saddle properly.

I've heard the PR12's and they really kick and have a good sound. With the new speakers in them they are only 24 lbs non-powered and 34 lbs for the powered.

So, you're right you can't judge a book by it's cover

Whoever added the bra, priceless . However, this could hurt his chances in the wet t-shirt competition.

Tom

I started used Peavey gear when the company just started. Later, I became close friends with Mr. Paul Robinson, who worked for Peavey. Paul would bring the latest gear for me to evaluate and often just leave it with me.
The last thing he brought me was a red Peavey guitar. He would sit in with me and play it when he came to town. I still have it.
Paul and I played golf every time he came to town, and I also went to his house in Memphis to play a couple of times. One day while he was on the road, he finished his appointments early, decided to play a round of golf. After he finished, he went went to dinner, then back to the motel room. He died later that night from a heart attack.
Now every time I think of Peavey it reminds me of my friend.
Anyway, the PR15s were the last Peavey gear I bought. I must admit I have opted for several pieces of the low-price Behringer gear in the past few years, and have not been disappointed.
I believe Behringer has had a big effect on the entire industry and have forced other companies to price their gear more realistically.

Don, I think you're correct about their effect on pricing in the industry. However, it's a lot easier to undercut the competition when you're taking advantage of their R@D. We condemn China for reverse-engineering, cloning, flat-out stealing, etc., other's technology; why not Behringer? Could it be that we've become addicted, ala WalMart, to those low, low, prices? And ultimately, doesn't this hurt the industry, and by extension, ourselves, in the long run? Just a thought.

BTW, I'm as guilty as anyone as I sit here looking at my FCV100 (at $24.00, larger, better built, and functionally better than the EV5 it replaced) and my ADA8000 (best bargin in the industry), and my ...... oh, what the hell.

the woofers on the two on the left seem like they would involve heavy lifting. but of course would provide more fullness to offset if you have enough power to handle them. the tweeters on the others are all very sweet, as good tweeters should be, especially when turned up.
