Hello all arranger friends...

A customer/friend of mine was on his way home after a gig recently . He had all of gear with him, speakers, mixer, keyboards (one was a Korg I-30) .

He was almost home when out of no where, his van backed fired.... very strange for a van to back fire, my friend thought, but he did make it home safely.

He got out of his van and walked around his van and discovered that his van did not back fire, there was a bullet hole that went right through the back of his van, and right through his anvil keyboard case and right through his Korg I-30 ....

WOW ! True Story .....

The good news is that the bullet did not go through his other keyboards, which consisted of
a Ketron SD1,Tyros,Liontracks,Genesys,G-800 or his PSR3000 and his beloved PSR-510.

He would have had the KN7000 with him, but he was having a navigation system installed at the time.

See Ya..

Dan, thank you for sharing. It's a good thing that I30 was built like a tank...

On the other hand, the Tyros' plastic construction would not stop a bullet

Your friend uses all those keyboards on a single gig?

Doesn't ring true to me....

Hi Danny, better yet,

Even BETTER NEWS that the bullet didn't go thru HIM. He's one lucky guy.

Yeah, I heard of someone's arranger getting a bullet through it and then the only style it would play was gangster rap.

I never leave the house without a bullet proof vest - wrapped around my PSR3000, of course.

I know the guy this happened to, he told me about it the next day when he was having has van repaired and had the bullet been six inches higher, it would have went through the driver's seat and into his back.

As for the keyboard stopping the slug, this was only part of it. The major slowdown of the bullet was the van's rear door. The keyboard's case wouldn't stop any bullet that can easily penetrate a steel van door--the bullet was pretty much spent at the point it entered the keyboard.

The incident happened on a rural, country road late at night, probably some idiot kid with a rifle. This just demonstrates how much of the world has gone to hell in a handbasket!

Dave still has a bullet hole in his Van's door from the time he was hijacked on the interstate here a few months ago
