If anyone is in need of an interface that works very well on their laptop........have a look at the Tascam US 122.

I've been using an M Audio Quattro. While ths sound is great, the drivers can be problamatic at times.

Anyway, went and got the Tascam, plugged it in installed the drivers and done deal, works great. Latency is non existent from what I can tell at this point and has some cool features on it. You can check out their site for all the info if you're in need.

I've been using the Tascam US-122 for several months now, most recently to get some field recordings of environmental sounds with my laptop. Works perfectly even at 96k/24bit while providing phantom power to my twin AT 4050's. Also use it for working with Reason and it gives me about 2ms of latency - quite good. Some people are prejudice against anything that is still working off the USB 1.0 standard like the US-122 but so far on everything I've used it on and tried it with, it performs A+. Nice solid-feeling unit too.

Terry, lucky you; I've been wanting one for some time. I bought an M-Audio Audiophile USB/MIDI interface and it works just fine also, but requires a wall wart. I like that the US122 has XLR inputs and uses USB power. Anyone want my M- Audio?

Hi Folks, newbie here.

I have been using an Edirol UM-2 USB/Midi interface for about a year now, and as long as you don't have more than 2 devices, it works great. As well as I remember I paid $79 USD for it from my local music store (mom & pop) where I've done a lot of business.

Stam,
It is an external sound card / intrface for the computer. This sorts of things work especially well for laptops where you cannot change the card.

Vquestor,
If cassp doesn't want to sell his M Audio, I'll part with the M Audio Quattro I have. Original box, manual and all.

Vquestor and anyone else -

The M-Audio Audiophile USB lists for $249 and sells for $199. I'll sell mine for $160 and ship it FREE (in US). It is brand new with all the original boxes and everything that comes with it. I have only tried it out once at home. It's a great machine, just not what I was looking for. http://m-audio.com/products/m-audio/audiophileusb.php
