I'm thinking of trading in my PSR2000 for some other keyboard with arranger functions. The Casio have caught my eye with their 76-key keyboards. What about reliability, keyboard feel, sounds and styles. Most importantly I'm interested in what you like and dislike about yours. AND, what the major difference in the three boards. Should I consider an 8000 instead?

IMO, about the only area the Casio would win out in is the 76 keys and maybe the piano sound. The PSR 2000 would have more and better sounds overall. So it depends on what is more important to you.

I had a PSR 1100 and sold it and got a Casio WK3200 and have been kicking myself for it. I only use the keyboard for recording and the quality and variety of sounds on the Yamaha was much better for my needs. The 76 keys are nice though and the piano sound is a little better IMO especially on the low end.

Cass, the Casio does have a better acoustic piano, but the big difference sound wise is the drawbar organs..The Casio is far superior..I know organ is a big item on your list.

The 76 key range is a given..The key feel , and size, on the Casio is not great, but a lot better than the 2000..

Features, they both have their own feature strenghts, but the 2000 has more features...are they all quality features..No, as you already know..

For price point, The Casio does offer a lot for the buck....and it is playable..

When I had a PSR2000[also the 2100]..I hated it..when I had the Casio WK, at least I smiled when I played the organs..

Cass I think you are right on the numbers [VR760]..If I were you, I would hold on to it though..

I don't think you have to move it to make room for another low end arranger..

I find the styles on the Casio very busy and are more suited for more modern music. If you are a young person, you might like them - I don't (cause I'm an old guy ).
The organs voices are very good. Casio, IMO, has no voices to match Yamaha's sweet voices, but it is an unfair comparison.

I don't use the organs so I forgot about them, but I have seen other give them high marks too. The Yamaha styles are superior in both sound and the ability to download just about any style you could imagine from the net.

I bought the 3700 last year as a back-up board and would not reccommend it. I find it very messy to get any decent registrations set up and whilst I agree with others that the organs and piano used on their own are OK, for me, the horrible noisy keybed renders it unusable except for practice. I am not a pounder but the racket from the keybed offends my ears - even more than my playing!!!

It is a lot of board for the money but I would certainly advise one of the lower end
Yamahas (or others) as more usable.
I will qualify that by saying that I have not tried the later 3800 so do not know whether any of my points have been taken up.

Regards
Trevor

Thank you all for your opinions. I guess I will stay with the 2k for now. The Casio 76-key board was the attractive part, but the sounds have to match up and it appears as if they don't.

Fran, as far as VR760 is concerned, I'm not using it as I thought and it's so heavy when I do lug it out. It's a great board, but I feel the need to move on. If I can get my price, plus $150 for an SRX-03 card and another $150 for a brand new Gator SX76 wheeled case, I think it's gone. Any takers? $1500 complete.
