Scott,

I listened to Uncle Dave's version of the song long ago when he first put it out. It sounds like Jig-a-low to me.

I do however have a Jigabyte of memory on my computer and being Irish I like to dance the Gig.

This is fascinating. So converting wave to mp3 can change the sound of consonants and who knows what else! Maybe this is why Kerry lost? :-)

Here's an interesting MP3 bit rate chart including 'comparison' sample clips using the song "Smooth", by Santana:
http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art17931.asp

When attempting to rip the highest quality (most accurately reproduced) MP3's possible for playback on my iPod, I use & recommend "Exact Audio Copy" EAC: http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/ It's better than the rest, and believe it or not, it's 100% free as well.

I rip at 192 kbps as I find this produces the best results with minimum tradeoff in quality vs compression.

I often record my J-1000, and I agree , always use the 192 bitrate..it makes a bij difference..

Fran is it Carango or Caranjo?
