I blew my first JBL Eon 15P playing keyboard with my band, got another one used and blew that too, they seem to give me the same problem.

Is the Mackie SRM450 is a louder speaker than the JBL EON 15P? It weighs the same but I noticed the JBL had a 125w and a 50w amp in it, where the mackie had a 300w and a 100w...this means that the speaker can get a bit louder, right? And handle my load with my band without blowing, hopefully. I don't play incredibly loud, I run through a very small power mixer and I had the JBL halfway up and the mixer about half-3/4s up.
Think im safer with the mackie?

I have a pair of c300 Mackies (the unpowered brothers) and I run my keys and band thru them with no problems whatsoever. You may lose some bass response because the SRM is a 12" two-way, but the bass is usually strong enough for me. Great speaker.

You might want to consider the Peavey Pr15p powered speaker, http://www.peavey.com/products/browse.cfm/action/detail/item/116441/number/00584080/cat/103/begin/1/PR%AE+15P++Class+H+Rail+Switching+Technology.cfm

or better yet the EV SXa250.
I love EVs, but they are pricier than any of the others. Good luck. http://electrovoice.com/productfamilies/52.html

Try Barbettas. Light, small and more powerful.

Bthmedicine, as I recall you live in the same city I do. Cranston. Let me tell you DonM recommened the Barbetta brand to me. It's great small, lightweight and powerful. You can't go wrong. Only problem is I couldn't find them in any local stores. I ordered based on Don's advice and it was a good choice. I tried a Mackie and although it's a great system. I prefer the Barbetta, just my choice.

Get rid of ALL your frustration and ALL your problems by investing in a pair of Mackie HR 824's. They cost like hell (about $1,600. each retail) but they will spoil you for life. They have the power to fill a coliseum and they are about 10 x 12 inches in size. The bass end can be turned up to break your eardrums. I have a pair and they work beautifully with my KN7000.

I have a pair of Barbetta Sona SE-41s. They perform extremely well. They cost me around $700 each here in the U.S. and are a little heavy to pack around but boy do they put out the sound. I have used them in front of 500 people with no problem on sound level. Highly recommended.
