Have you heard of Smartdisk Flashpath Adpapter for Smartmedia memory cards. This is a tool so that you can read flash and write to flash memory from a floppy disk drive. It would work in a PSR if it were programmed to do so.

Why don't you include this capacity in Tyros updates and in the PSR2100? It would make life so much better for future PSR2100 owners. It's such a drag taking floppies in and out of the keyboard.

Could you prevail upon Yamaha to either include more flash memory in the future PSR2100 or to include the capacity to read Smartdisk Flashpath adapters? Thank you!

Speaking of Smartmedia storage .....

One of the new models announced by Yamana at the Winter NAMM is called the PSR K1 Portable Keyboard. Here is a link to the press release:
http://namm.harmony-central.com/WNAMM03/Content/Yamaha/PR/PSR-K1.html

I mention this because one of the paragraphs in the PR suggest that this instrument will have a capability of reading SmartMedia cards:

"Using the USB connection and a home computer, users can have an instant music production studio. Bundled Scorch/XF software allows digital interactive sheet music scores to be downloaded from a PC to the keyboard and saved to SmartMedia storage."

If this is so, I would hope the same capability will be found in the new PSR-2100.

Saving material to flash memory is one matter. Being able to play a style from flash memory is another matter. Given that providing a keyboard with expanded memory or the ability to read from flash memory would cost practically nothing, it will be obvious that if the PSR2100 does not have this capability that it will be an purposeful impediment on the part of Yamaha to give people an incentive to buy their more expensive Tyros. That seems like a punishment to those who either don't have two and a half thousand dollars or who need onboard speakers.

Steve, Thanks.

Flash cards are little cards that typically go in digital cameras. They hold from 16mb to 256mb of storage, which for midi is very significant. They are smaller and hold much more information than a floppy can.
