Welcome aboard, Tom.

Get a GOOD case (handles at both ends in case you can get someone to share lifting duties!) and a dolly! NO WAY should you try to move that behemoth un-cased!

But welcome to piano heaven! The combination of the best piano samples AND the best key-bed is unbeatable...

Post any questions at roland-arranger.com, and a prompt reply is a near certainty!

Tom best of luck with the G70. It's quite the machine to say the least! You're sure to lose some sleep in the coming weeks with this "Monster"

Initially when I first bought the board, I wanted it's OS to work like Yamaha's.....but after getting over that self inflicted hump and spending sometime with the board, I have really got to like things like the 76 keys , touch screen, the finder function, 76 keys, great action, 76 keys , great action, vocal harmonizer, live sound. Ability to hit the piano button and play a piano solo very comfortably, minus all arranger features. Drawbars, dedicated knob for adjusting balance with accomp and keyboard. Oh, yea did I mention it's great action and 76 keys??

My only problem is that I thought when getting the G70, it would be a no brainer to sell the Tyros2. That's not the case, I really like both boards equally, they are both great pieces of equipment. I enjoy them both.

Tom,

Enjoy your new board. I envy you I loved the VA series and never had the chance to even see the G70 (thanks retailers)

Thanks everyone. I do very much love my Sd-1 but I'm getting a little bored. I must be sort of like Donny, Don Mason and Uncle Dave, these guys are always changing keyboards. It's time for something new and exciting so I'm going to try the G70. I can't trade my wife in for a new model but I can change boards.

Stephen, I'm an old organ player. When I wanted to learn how to play the organ, my dad who was a professional musician went out and bought me an organ. I never learned how to play piano and 76 keys are not really an attraction for me. I'm used to 61. My extra keys are my Roland PK-5 pedals on the floor. Key feel is also pretty meaningless to me. I'm an organ player.

That being said I'm excited about some of the stuff on the G70, like D-Beam and REAL drawbars. I'm also ready for some new styles especially in the swing big band area. The cover feature also seems interesting. It might just be a useless gimmick but at least I get to check it out. D-beam might not be usefull either I don't know.

Again thanks everyone!

Tom
