Will 740 styles & songs saved to floppies
work on the 2000?
I don't know if they are compatible?
I'm asking for a friend, I don't have mine yet!
Had my hands on one yesterday!
All I can say is "WOW" !!!!!
Help me if you have one,
Thank you,
Nobby

Yes they work fine, as do 9000 styles. I only tried a couple, but no problem. I even loaded a couple from the 8000 too.
I don't think you'll need many extra styles though. This thing has a lot.

Hi DonM
I only played the 2000 for a short time yesterday. Your a country music man!
Does it have a lot of country Styles?
There was so many different things to see all at once. I over looked most of it. All I saw was page one of any of the styles. After I got home I figered out how to turn the pages.
I play mostly Country. But I do play other
styles too.
Thanks A bunch for your answer,
Nobby

If you play mostly one style, then you need styles from other sources. At the Yahoo Yamaha style group, you can get country styles from the PSR 9000 and put those on a floppy. Then you can get styles converted from the Solton X1 and other keyboards, plus there are many great country styles made by a fellow named Miles that you can access at the archive whose icon you can find at the Yamaha style group. Plus Simon Williams at svpworld.com has created many beautiful country styles for the PSR 740 which he sells at a very reasonable price. So with a little digging around, I bet you can get 60-70 decent country styles. If you need the address for Yahoo PSR Styles egroup, I'll give it to you.

Lots of country when you go to page 3 and 4 of the pop styles and more when you go to the ballad catagory.

Hello Larry,
Thank you for your answer. I'm a member of the Yahoo Yamaha Song & Style group, & I've played a lot of Simon's styles that I could play on the computer. I have never had a KB with a floppy drive before!
That's all going to change soon!
I was just wondering about styles loaded on the 2000.
All the best,
Nobby

Hi George,
Didn't see your posting till after I posted!
Sounds like it has lots of country styles,&
I like the ballads. George you know I tried a lot of the songs, and the setup will work for other songs, I didn't realize you could control the chord changes, Starts & endings. I was thinking they were layered karaoke style songs. Where it would play the tune by it's self. It's quite a board!
Best regards,
Nobby

Nobby, there are lots of good country styles. Even the ones that were in the 740 have been improved. For example, the Country Boogie used to have an annoying steel guitar riff on Phrase 2, but the 2000 has changed it. Also, the bass on the Country Waltz, while it still does a I-V line, resets to the root every time you change chords. That makes it usable on a lot more songs.
One "trick" I learned from the 740 and 9000--you can take the Jive style and slow it down to about 120 bpm and you have a good old-fashioned country shuffle with a walking bass. On the 740 and 9000 there was a brass part that you had to mute, but the 2000 has changed it a little, so you can use all the parts if you wish.
